A little boy who was adopted from Russia last year writes about himself.
Privyet! (In my language, Russian, that means "Hello!") My name is Sergei Ivan Sandusky, and I am going to be seven soon. I am now six. I was born in Russia, in the city of Moscow, but now I live in America because I was adopted. I was adopted by my American family last year, and I love my life here in America now. I live with my family in the state of Tennessee. We live in the city of Nashville.
I have blonde hair and brown eyes, and I am healthy, but I do have problems hearing (I wear buttons in my ears, so I can hear better), and I have problems learning. I go to special-needs class at school, and at school, my teacher helps me.
I like to run around and play ball with my brothers and sisters, and I like to learn how to read, and I also am learning how to write. I can write my whole name, which is Sergei Ivan Ioseph Sandusky. I also like to play video games and watch t.v. (Our t.v. has words on it, so I can follow along with the programs, since I can't hear too well. That makes it a lot easier for me.) As you can see, I am also learning to write and speak in English, which is what they speak here in America (although, when we went to Texas last year, we heard people speaking in Spanish, which was weird!). I found that funny because they live here in America, but they don't speak American. I wonder why.
I love my family. My family is very big. I have a mommy and daddy (I call them "Mama" and "Daddy"), and I have a lot of brothers and sisters, and I love them all. They are all very good to me. Sometimes I get mad and fight with my brothers and sisters, but most of the time, we get along fine, and we have no trouble. We also have pets: cats, birds, dogs, even horses (but the horses stay outside, in our yard; we don't let them into the house, or they would wreck everything, and besides, they are too big to be let into our house.) We also have hampsters (hamsters, Sergei meant) and gerbuls (gerbils), which kind of look like rats. We even have a snake, a boa constrickter. But he stays in his house, and we never let him out, for he may eat one of the kids or one of the littler animals, like the cats, or the gerbuls or hampsters. (That would NOT be a very good thing, hunh??)
I don't work yet (I am only a kid!), but my Mama and Daddy do. Mama is a nurse (she takes care of people at a hospital), and Daddy works at Wal*Mart, which is this huge store that sells a lot of very many diffrent things. I always like it when we go to Wal*Mart because we can always have a snack to eat, and we kids usually end up getting a new toy or a game, which is always a lot of fun! My one older sister (Steffi) works, too, but she works at the Golden Corralled (they sell stake and bufay foods there, it is very good; we go there before and after church on Sundays!), and my brother, Anh, works too (he gives newspapers to people to read). My one older sister (Ronee') sings too and has gotten money for her singing, but the rest of us don't work, as we are too young. My other sisters Dwerlina and Dianna work too, but Melizza doesn't. She wants to work, but she hasn't been able to find a job, which makes her sad (and me sad, too).
Well, that is my story. I hope you liked reading about me. I will go now. I will write more another day, when I can think of more to say. (I think I said a lot already! Pretty darn good for a six-year-old little boy, hunh?)
~Love, Sergei Ivan Ioseph Sandusky (aged 6 1/2).
