Kendra is the mother to eleven little girls with special needs, and they are about to add to their family...
Michelle, your fictional family inspired me to write this story. Enjoy!
I recently heard of a family (I don't know where they live; I would love to contact them, and I would love to add Kendra, the mother, to the prayer list at Christ Community Assembly of God, which is the church I and my family attend!) who is comprised of a mother named Kendra and 11 children, all girls, ranging in age from toddlers to teenagers, who live with various special needs.
There are kids from Africa, the Orient, and other places in this family, and the kids have disabilities ranging from cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down's syndrome, and blindness. So far there are 11 girls, as I just said, and Kendra is going to add to her family, another little girl from Africa that she is going to call Anna.
Kendra is going through some medical dramas of her own. She just recently had shunt surgery, and she has hydrocephalus and often gets blinding headaches. I know how that is because several of my own children have shunts themselves, and whenever they malfunction, they can get severe headaches or have seizures. She is probably worried about her daughters and who will watch out over them whenever she unexpectedly falls sick. Well, if she lives in the Nashville, Tenneseee, area, she can get in contact with me via my email addy or by phone because I can hook her up with a reliable network of caring people who would be more than GLAD to watch over her daughters while she recovers or if she needs a break from her children. Also, our primary adoption agency (AASK, or Aid To The Adoption Of Special-Needs Kids) has a picnic that they hold every year, and families from all over the United States come to meet one another and have a good time. If she is interested in attending, I can send her the necessary information and would love to extend an open and warm invitation to her and her daughters to attend. If she is struggling finacially, our church can get involved, and we can get her down to Tennessee. We heard about her from reading an article in the newspaper, and we were moved by her incredible story of love and self-sacrifice. We would very much love to meet her and her lovely girls, and I would love to let her know that I am interested in knowing more about her and her beautiful family of Miracles!
I am a veteran of special-needs and international adoption, and both my husband and myself would be more than happy to help answer any questions that Kendra may have regarding the care of her children or people made available to watch over her children while she is sick or in the hospital for whatever reason. Plus I am a nurse, so I can handle just about any medical emergency that may come along!
I would like Kendra to know that even if she DOESN'T live in Tennessee, I still can contact her, and I would be more than happy to write to her or talk to her! I can always make time for those people in need, and right now, Kendra sounds like she needs a lot of help (and a lot of prayer) for her growing family. I also would like her to know that I am good with languages, and I also know Swahili, so if her new daughter to be comes to America and she doesn't speak English, I can help her learn to communicate with her little Anna, and also I can get her a Swahili-English dictionary, so she can learn at least the basics of Swahili and communicate with her daughter, Anna.
So, Kendra, if you are out there, please get in touch with me (I will be sending you my phone number and my email addy in a seperate letter), and I will be more than happy to answer whatever questions you may have regarding your children, or the medical care thereof; and also let you know that I am there for you and will be lifting you and your family up in prayer.
God bless you, Kendra, and thank you for taking care of children nobody else would otherwise want; I wish there were more people like you (or me, for that matter!) in the world!
