When the huge deer jumped from behind the bushes, the driver of the car was left no time to contemplate what had happened.

The car veered off the road, but the Elk did not see it. All he wanted was to cross the serpentine highway without being hit by a vehicle, and he did it successfully.

The blast, thundering behind him, caused the Elk to double his speed. In three giant leaps the animal reached the top of the hill. Gracefully turning his delicate head, he looked back.

Far, far down the slope an immense fire burned. Reflected in the huge beautiful black eyes of the creature, the blaze seemed flames of Hell.

The Elk was satisfied; he had done this many times before, and he would do it again.
