Everyone's favorite Finnish gal is back for another spin. But unlike past entries from her, this one is full of sad news, and she is feeling depressed and worried.
Hai! Miita kuuluu? Kiitos hyvaa!
This is Sari again. I have just gotten back from visiting my brother's place; and now I am back for the night until I go to university tomorrow. (I have finals tomorrow, then I am off for Easter Week. Easter is Sunday, and then we get the week off until the following Tuesday.)
The auroras have been lighting up our night skies here in Finland; and aurora parties are common here. A bunch of us will get together and watch the auroras and drink and laugh ourselves silly. Now, I don't drink much, but I DO enjoy being with my friends, and I do enjoy watching the auroras flaring brightly over the city! The auroras are best in the late winter to early spring and again in the fall; and every time I see them, I can't help BUT to think of my friend in America and her daughter, Ronee'. Ronee' is fascinated by the aurora borealis, and earlier this year, I sent her a book on the aurora. I do hope she will like it. I haven't heard much from Louisiana lately, and I do hope she is okay. It isn't like her not to write me. I think I will call her; but then I will have an awfully big phone bill to pay! I just want to make sure that she is okay, plus I want to surprise her!
What do you think her reaction will be when I call her all the way from the Arctic Circle here in Finland??
Bet she will be VERY surprised! LOL
Mother has been doing fairly well since Father's death, but she has her bad days where she stays holed up in her room and cries nonstop. It is a huge chore to try to get her to eat or do something; ANYTHING to get her mind off Father's death! I am sad, too, as are all my brothers, but we are at LEAST trying to get on with our lives and NOT try to think about it so much! Poor Mother is beside herself with grief, and she doesn't do much but lie in bed or cry. I have been trying to fatten her up or try to get her to eat, but she refuses to eat but very little. She is starting to look thinner, and I am worried about her. If this doesn't stop, I will have to soon take her to hospital, to doctor, to see if he can do anything to help her!
More sad news..my cousin, Olga, died in a car crash in Helsinki last week, and I have been very upset. It seems all I have done lately is cry; and now my eyes hurt and are red from all the tears I have shed! If it isn't Mother or her not eating, I have also been crying about Olga; and my eyes are so sore and so swollen, it is NOT a BIT funny!
I am trying to keep busy by working or by going to university or go skiing, but Mother and Father (and also my cousin, Olga, and her mother, Pier, and her father, Oskar; they must be crying as hard as I have been! Oh, what an awful thing to have happen to them! I just cannot IMAGINE the pain or the HORROR they must be going through in light of Olga's death!) are never far from my thoughts; and now, when I look at the Northern Lights, I can't help but feel a bit melancholy as I imagine them to be among the lights, dancing in the Heavens, meaning Father and Olga. Mother's health and Olga's family are also on my mind, and it has been a very difficult time, at best, for me and my brothers. Times are NOT that good right now for the Gustaffssenn family, I am afraid.
I will write more later; I have to tend to the reindeer and then check on Mother to see if she has eaten any of her soup or bread. I do hope she has managed to eat some; I don't like the thought of her trying to starve herself, which I think she is doing; I am sure she is thinking of joining Father up in Heaven, and I don't know if I or my brothers are ready to deal with another death in our family...I will write again soon, and I hope that I have better news next time. I also hope that I hear from Louisiana~
((((Karen)))
This is an excellent story, though it is full of sad news, I pray things look up for Sari soon, btw I saw Brother Bear Last Night and it was excellent my brother bought the movie to go with our collection...
