Daily they meet to share their lunch beneath the gazebo beside Lake Mystery.
The local folklore was that many couples had met and fallen in love while viewing the royal blue water. They wondered each day as they shared their lunch would they also be one of the couples or just remain friends. Their lunches continued with neither one of them even really believing that the old folklore was true . Their conversations consisted mostly of their daily life experiences and dreams of the future. Simple dreams, and ones they could share with each other, as the other totally understood them.
One day, without warning, the gentle, cooling breeze became strong and violent as the bright sunshine disappeared behind an ominous looking black cloud. In a matter of moments, tranquil Lake Mystery was now filled with white-capped waves rolling fiercely into the shore. While the other people who were lakeside ran for the safety of shelters, all they could do was stand in place as if time had frozen them.
Their eyes met as they had so many times before, but this time there was warmth in them that neither had ever seen in each other. Lighting bolts were striking and thunder was booming and shaking the ground that they stood on, yet there they stood in a trance not worrying or caring about what was happening all around them.
While others yelled and pleaded for them to seek shelter, they continued to stand still. Not hearing the others pleas, they finally embraced and kissed - something that neither one had ever felt. The bone chilling, soaking rain was felt by neither of them for they felt only the strength and warmth of the embrace and soft kisses. Kisses that were more than friendship - and both wanted more. Their kisses became passionate, revealing love that had been stored inside of them.
Just as quickly as it had come, the storm left. The heavens opened back up and brought forth the bright sun, and the wind returned to a cool breeze. Lake Mystery became tranquil again and the friends realized that the folklore was not a myth as they had just become lovers and that it had been truly a lunchtime well spent.

Tommy, this is an excellent romantic story illustrating that even during a violent thunderstorm, love has the ability to shelter and comfort lovers and shed a brilliant glow it its aftermath. I liked how you combined the storm within their passion shared in this piece my friend. Thank you for sharing it.
