Jenna Whitson in Alaska fires off her second letter in a day to her California friend, Kendra May Williams.
How did the two start writing? Well, Kendra mailed a letter of encouragement to Johnny and Ronee', Bill and Louisiana's children, upon learning that Bill, the father, was in the hospital; and Jenna was so moved by her act of kindness that she decided to write to her. Now they have emailed each other several times in less than two days!
Letter #2, on Tuesday, April 20, 2004~
Anchorage, Alaska, 1:31 P.M., Alaska time
Dear Kendra~
I am glad you understand my views on religion and also Michael's, and that you won't force yours on me. That is always a huge relief; I hate it when people preach to us and tell us that we are going to hell! We aren't bad people; why do we need to feel bad by people who have no business meddling in our privacy??
So far Louisiana or Bill (or their kids Johnny and Ronee') haven't talked about it to us, but I DO see them praying or reading the Bible; and that is THEIR business; but I still have trouble believing in a God that allows bad things to happen when He is supposed to be all good and powerful! Michael has trouble too, ever since his cousin was molested by that Catholic priest, and now I can understand why he doesn't believe in God either because God didn't stop this from happening to his cousin, and he has been angry about it all these years.
I got your picture of your family, and they are all beautiful! Another "Rainbow Family" for me to get to know and love! Your girls are all beautiful, and they look so nice together! The little one..Keisha..is especially cute! How old is she? Two you say?? I have seen pictures of Louisiana and her family, and I don't know how they do it either, meaning her and Bill, raising 50 kids, most with special needs; but they manage only by the Grace of God, I always say! It is enough trying to raise 11 active girls, soon to be 12..our new child, Abayomi Chipo (she will be renamed Anna Grace) will be arriving to our family from Africa next month, like in three weeks, and we have all been busy, trying to get our house in shape before Abayomi arrives! I have talked to Abayomi on the phone once, and it was so exciting hearing her sweet little voice for the first time! She talks English, but she didn't talk long; the lady at the orphanage where she is at says she is shy in nature, but at least she was able to talk to me! I told her I loved her, and that her sisters and I in America couldn't wait until she was with us!
Speaking of Bill and Louisiana, did you read the book Louisiana wrote about her family? She wrote an inspirational book called "A Family Made Out Of Rainbows and Miracles: The Sandusky Family Story: A True Story of Love And International Adoption", and it is really something to read! Some of her kids have really been through hell; yet now they have flourished under Bill's and her guidance and love, and now they are happy, well-adjusted children with a future full of hope and promise! It is amazing to think about all that this family has had to endure on behalf of their many kids, and it is amazing to think of all the sacrifices they have had to make on behalf of these little ones! The children are all growing up (I saw the pictures of them when they were small), and the family continues to grow bigger, too! LOL (It's a wonder they don't go BROKE with all the expenses or bills they have to pay! LOL)
I am sorry if I thought you had a husband. Not everyone does..I didn't use my head! LOL (Think the medicines I am taking are starting to affect my brain! I take so much medication it's a miracle I don't RATTLE! LOL) I'll be glad when I am OFF these stupid pills! They really mess with my head! But I bet if you did have a husband, he would have to learn PATIENCE! LOL Hell, I would need TONS if I had a zoo to raise! LOL (Or a VILLAGE, as in the Sanduskys' case! LOL)
I would love it if you came out to Alaska. Maybe Louie and Bill can bring THEIR crew out too, and we'll have a regular salmon blowout! Salmon is KING here; and a lot of us native Alaskans LOVE it! We will have to show you a part of my Inuit culture and teach you about what it means to be Inuit! I bet you would like my whale or my seal patties! LOL I LOVE 'em!! So does Michael; he can't get enough of them! He also loves my moose burgers and my caribou stew! YUMM!! We could also show you the Northern Lights and I can tell you the legend of the Lights and share with you stories about my ancestors who now play in the lights and keep me focused on my life and guide me through it. Yes, I know there is SOMETHING out there..I see this when I look about me.., but as for it being GOD, I still have trouble comprehending. It is all so confusing! How can ONE person make ALL things?? It really doesn't seem real or at all feasible...
I have to go feed the dog ("Aurora" is her name; she's a Husky/Malamute mix; guess who she was named after?? LOL), and also check on the kids. The kids are taking a nap, and I want to make sure they are okay. They've been up since first light, and they are tired from their trips with Michael! Maybe later, once the kids wake up again, we can go out to eat or out to one of the country music dance clubs here and show them an Alaskan style hoedown (like I can hear the music...NOT! But it is still fun trying to dance! LOL)! Bill and Louie are napping too; I just looked on them, and they are both asleep in the guestroom, the kids in between them, and they all look like sleeping angels! I will write more later!
Again, thanks for sending me the picture of your lovely girls (and yourself!), and thanks for responding to my first letter so quickly! I will write more as soon as I can!

P.S.: I thought I was done; but I have just realized something here...earlier, I had mentioned that it was Michael's cousin who had gotten molested by that priest when he was six; and this is not right. It was his GOOD FRIEND who got molested, NOT his cousin, as I had mentioned earlier. See what I mean about the medications messing with my head?? NOT good!
