A little boy battles terminal cancer, much to the heartbreak and dismay of his parents. He is their only child.
The little boy was introduced in the second part of Amanda's Story, a story about a handicapped woman who is being cared for by her elderly parents.
I don't know why God allows these things to happen.
We are parents of a child who happens to be sick, and it seems ever since he was just a few months old he has had to battle for his life; and now he faces yet another battle in his young life. Our son has terminal brain cancer, and right now, doctors don't hold out much in the way of hope for our little boy.
Tyson Blake is only two years old, and he is such a brave little guy; he has had to go through things and endure more pain and heartbreak than most kids have a right to; and he has been in and out of the hospital, which can be a very scary place for a little guy. He doesn't understand why he has to keep going to the hospital for treatments, and he really doesn't understand that all the pokings, proddings, tests, and such that he must endure are supposed to help him get better; but it sure is hard to remember this whenever we hear his screams or cries from behind the closed door, or see his little arms and legs being held down by nurses or pinned down by straps when they need to draw more blood from his arm or leg. It is also hard to see him throwing up everything he eats, or seeing his eyes full of fear as he lies on a table underneath a huge machine that looks like it is either going to fall on top of him or eat him alive.
Tyson also doesn't understand that he is dying, and that he will never get any better, even despite all the treatments he has had to go through. His disease is terminal; and doctors think that our little one will be dead in less than a year unless a Miracle happens. We can't imagine why our little boy has had to suffer so needlessly, and we can't understand why he has cancer or what we have done to deserve all this hell involving Tyson. We feel as though we have failed him, and even with all the prayers and soul-searching, we still feel angry at God for allowing this to happen to Tyson.
We have tried on numerous occasions to try to make what is left of Tyson's life more pleasant or memorable; but it is still hard to look at him because he is so sick; and so often he doesn't feel good. He is skinny, almost too skinny, and his skin is pale and blotchy; and black circles ring his sparkly eyes; and his hair is scanty. His stomach is also bloated, and he looks as though he is starving; but he isn't; it's the cancer that has metastasized throughout his tiny frame. The cancer has spread from his brain to his bones and liver; and he is dying. We look at our little guy, and we are at once saddened and angry, angry because our son is the one who has to go through this hell on earth, and sad because our son will never get a chance to grow up. He will always be a little toddler, and he will never know what it will be like to go to pre-K or school, go on a date, have a girlfriend, get a car, or get married and start a family. He will never get to go to his senior prom or graduate from high school or college; and he will never have a career or will never know what it will be like to be an adult. All he has known right now in his brief life is sickness, pain, or people in white coats stabbing, poking, prodding, or hurting him in ways that no child deserves. All he has known is fear, and he really doesn't understand the implications of this disease known as cancer. Because of this disease, our little boy is dying, and there isn't a goddamn thing anyone can do about it.
heartshattering, but well written piece of confusion, anger and sadness--why do children have to suffer? know this: God is in control, no matter the circumstances.
A poignant story about letting go of a narcissist in your life. Have you ever been attacked FULL force by a narcissist? It's the closest thing to being stabbed over and over in the back.
