A young teen plans to have an action-packed summer.
I am SOOO glad school is out for the summer! I LIKE school, don't get me wrong, but I am ready for some vacation time!!
Nuthin' to do but kick back, relax, and maybe get a bit of traveling in! (I have already started on that; a few weeks back, we went to the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival in Louisiana, and we had a blast! While there, we danced and enjoyed the music of Hunter Hayes, a young Cajun progidy, and Belton Richard, and many others; and of course, we ate TONS of crawfish! My younger sister, Ronee', also took to the stage, and as always, she knocked the socks off everyone!) And in a few weeks, we are off to Fan Fair (now renamed the CMA Music Festival); we go there every year, too, and from what I have heard Loretta Lynn is scheduled to make a surprise appearance there! We will be there for the weekend, and we plan on getting in as many concerts, autographs, and photo ops as possible!
Now, my parents, and my brother and sister (Johnny and Ronee') have already gone to Alaska, and they had fun, but I still wish they could have taken ME instead of leaving me home! I would have liked going to Alaska, but nooooooooooooo...I got stuck babysitting! Oh, well...maybe next time I will get to go! I hope so! (They went to Alaska in April, and of course, they had a ball! They are still talking about it! But everytime I see Ronee' or Johnny wearing their Alaska shirts, I DO get a tad envious! LOL)
School ended yesterday, and we got out at noon. When the noon bell chimed, of course, the kids went nutz; we ran out of the school yard, just screaming our heads off as we boarded the buses (those kids who don't have cars, that is), and all we could do was talk with our friends and make plans for the summer. I am also happy to report that next fall, I will be in the 11th grade. I will be a junior! And then I will have only one more year to go before I graduate!!! (Graduation or being a senior can't come soon enough; this going to school is getting old FAST!!) I am also happy to report that my final report card had all A's and 2 B's, which definitely means that I passed! I am so glad; I would have hated to have failed or to repeat the tenth grade!
After we got out of school, I went home, said hi to my folks, and dropped off my things; and then I went to Trent's house; and we went swimming for a few hours. (Got a good head start on my summer tan! 'Course, I had my sunblock with me, so I was careful NOT to overdo it!!) We then sort of hung around until about four, and I got home and bothered the pests for a while (NOT really, but you know how little brothers and sisters are; they can be a pain at times! LOL), and I also straightened out my side of the room and watched "Finding Nemo".
Today, later on, we are going to see "Shrek 2"; heard that is really a good movie, and that it is even better than the original "Shrek". We are all looking forward to it, but I don't know if Cinemark can handle the Sanduskys! LOL
Tomorrow we will be at church all day; between the second and third services, there will be an all day "dinner on the grounds" (which means no Golden Corral tomorrow; we will eat breakfast at Denney's instead and give the Golden Corral a well-deserved break! LOL), and then we will go to the last service of the day and then go home. We will then go to Centennial Park on Monday for a special tribute to the veterans and see the parade, and there will also be a special memorial service for those men and women lost in Iraq. So the next few days will be action-packed, and it looks like our summer will be, really.
Of course, we will be going to some fairs and festivals, but where, I have no idea as of yet. Ronee' and her band, "Cajun Spice", are scheduled to make some appearances at some festivals, but the final details haven't been worked out as of yet. They should be forthcoming though; so until then, we will have to wait and see. And of course, we have the CMA Music Festival to look forward to, and the fairs and stuff; so at least we will spend our days having fun!
Good old summertime! Oh, how I LOOOOOVE summer vacation time!!
Remember this fun Karen, it's been a long time though. Sometimes to be happier I pretend I'm getting out of school for the summer and just getting my drivers license. Those were really joyful times in my life. l&p G
