I am such a basket case it isn't a BIT funny! Besides spiders, I also loathe storms, especially since we just got hit with one last week, a storm that damaged our house. Because of it, we are at a shelter until repairs can be made to our house, and we couldn't go to the CMA Music Festival.
We suffered some damage to our roof, and also to our yard; there were huge trees lying all over, and one of the trees knocked out our power when it leaned against a power line, snapping off the power supply. We thought for a minute we were going to get a tornado (maybe it WAS a tornado; I don't know; but whatever it was, it sure scared the hell out of me!!), and when we were in the basement, waiting out the storm, we could hear the stuff being blown about and the sound of stuff thunking against the house; and also the winds howling like a wolf in pain. It was scary, and I was so scared!!
Now we are at a shelter for homeless people. NOT because we ARE homeless (we are only temporarily misplaced!), but because our house had damage from the storms. I am so bored it isn't funny, and I don't like sharing a room with a million other people! There is no privacy, and I HATE getting undressed/dressed in front of people I do NOT know! I also hate being stared at because of my braces and crutches, and I HATE people sniggering or pointing at me! I am so sick of telling other people what is wrong with me I could SPIT!!
I have read all the books I had with me ten times already, and I have about used up all my paper; the only thing I have with me that is WORTH anything is my laptop computer, and also my CD player! I also have a few of my rap and Cajun CD's with me. I have also played Tetris until my eyes thought they were going to cross, and I am tired of babysitting kids I don't even know! Some of the kids here are little TERRORISTS!! They drive me CRAZY!!
I have always been scared of thunderstorms, and everytime I heard thunder or saw lightning or the skies darkening, I would start to cry; and today, even though I am older, I still get upset whenever it is fixin' to come up a cloud. I especially get nervous when severe weather is forecast, be it high, damaging downbust winds, tornadoes, large hail, or flooding rain, as well as frequent lightning. But if it is a regular thunderstorm, with NO severe within its clouds, then I CAN rest a bit easier, but NOT like when it is going away! It is when the storm is leaving is when I am the happiest by far! Then I can say GOOD RIDDANCE, you bad ol' storm!!
I also don't like thunderstorms because beforehand, my arthritis acts up big time, and sometimes I am in so much pain, I think I am going to go BANANAS! I get stiffer than stiff, and it is harder for me to move around or get around well! If I am flaring, then it's only ten times worse! ARGGGHHHH!!!
I am glad I live where I do. We have a huge, roomy basement that we can go to if severe weather threatens, and other than a few rumbles of thunder (or a good crack of it once in a while, if it is directly overhead), one never knows that it is storming out unless it is severing all over the place, or the power is flickering on and off! That is another thing that makes me nervous during a thunderstorm! I am glad I don't live in Texas because in Texas, basements or cellars are rare things to find, and I am sorry, but if you are living right in the middle of Tornado Alley, with NO freakin' basements, then there is something SERIOUSLY wrong here, folks!!
YIKES. I don't think I would want to live in Texas....
