A Special Half Birthday Celebration...(Part One, By Johnny and Ronee') by Karen Lynn Vidra, The Texas Tornado

Tomorrow is a special day for Johnny and Ronee': tomorrow they will officially turn 11 1/2 years old, and tomorrow, their family is throwing them a big half birthday blowout. (Only they don't know about it; but they DO know that their family is acting mighty suspicious.)
Join me in wishing my twin sister, Karla J. Dorman, and also Ashura, a special Happy Birthday! Their special day (and mine) is tomorrow! (It is also Karla's and my oldest niece's birthday, and also one of our cousin's birthday is tomorrow! So that seems to be a popular day; there are four people in our family alone who share June 26th as a birthday!)

Ronee':
Things around here are getting WEIRD. I see my family, and they keep looking at my brother, Johnny, and myself, and they keep on pointing and laughing, and they also keep whispering amongst themselves. I wonder what is going on...
They also keep running to the store (they say "They forgot something, and they had to go back to the store"), and whenever they come back, they are carrying mysterious bags of SOMETHING, but they won't let us see it if we ask what they have in the bag; they just walk away and tell us not to peek.
I also have seen mama and daddy counting paper plates and napkins, to make sure thay have enough, and I keep seeing my other brothers and sisters writing out cards or something, and each time we come into the room, they stop what they are doing, and they run away, laughing their heads off!
I don't know what they are up to, but I wish they'd quit it! Maybe it's because tomorrow, June 26, officially means that we turn 11 1/2, which means in exactly six months, we will be 12 years old. Even though our birthday isn't until December, Johnny's and mine, they sometimes have a "half-birthday celebration" because our birthdays are often forgotten in the madness and confusion that is Christmas. Maybe that is why they are acting so weird. I don't know, but they sure have been acting mighty sus, mighty sus!
Johnny:
I know how that is, Ronee'. The family has flipped out. They have been acting very secretive, and it's like it is Christmas time in the summer because there are weird packages floating about, and I have seen wrapping paper in use more than once, and I also have seen the paper plates and the napkins, and stuff.
Each June, mama and daddy have a big birthday blowout for us, even though our birthdays aren't until December 25 and 26, officially. While that is too cool, we still have Christmas and our REAL birthdays to look forward to, and this way, our birthdays AREN'T forgotten because of Christmas, which is what usually happens!
Still, you GOTTA' admit that it IS nice getting presents twice a year instead of just ONCE, and I love the fact that our party is held in the warm weather instead of having to have our party inside, due to the snow and cold weather! This way, we can run around and play to our heart's content, and we can also eat cake and ice cream and just generally have a BLAST!
Ronee':
I just wonder what mama and daddy and the family have in mind THIS year. The past few years we have gotten money, and we have also gotten some mighty neat stuff, like computer games, movies, new clothes, and art supplies, and each year our parties have had some sort of theme. Last year, we had a "Finding Nemo" party, and everything was suited around Nemo and his friends. It was fun, and we also played games in the water, and we did an awful lot of swimming and horsing around in the water. It was a wild, wet time!
Johnny:
I don't know what they have in mind, but I bet it will be good. Maybe it will be a Spiderman or Brother Bear theme. That would be too cool; you know how I like Spiderman, and you know how I love the movie "Brother Bear"! I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to find out what the party will be, but I AM looking forward to the cake and the presents, and also seeing some of our cousins and neighbors!
Boy, I love birthday parties, even though we DO celebrate HALF birthdays because of our birthdays falling on or just AFTER Christmas!
