A mother continues to discuss her teenaged daughter's concerns over her wanting to have a baby at aged 14 and why it is so risky.
Ashley, as I was saying earlier, I don't want to become a grandmother just yet. I may be in my later thirties now, but I am NOT ready to become a grandmother! This is one reason why I want you to wait until you are older and married before you even CONSIDER having a baby! Fourteen is just TOO young to have a child, and you are NOT mature enough to try to provide for that child!
Do you know that there are classes that teach teenagers about the dangers of teenaged sex, and also the risks involved? Do you also know that there are dolls that look--and act--like human babies? That is right: they cry, they "poop" and "pee", and they demand your attention, even though they are just toys; but this is how they are designed, and it is supposed to help a teenaged girl such as yourself just what it is like to have a child--in particular, a young baby--, and this doll doesn't shut up when you want it to. It just keeps on going, and pretty soon, many teenagers crack with the strain of having to tote this doll around or attend to its "needs". This doll has saved many young lives from making terrible mistakes into rushing into parenthood too soon, and it has made them THINK.
I think that this would be a good thing for you to check out, seeing how much you want a child of your own. You may just learn a thing or two, and it will definitely open your eyes, let alone, your mind! A child isn't a plaything, as I told you before. A child is a REAL, living, breathing human being, and you can't just discard it anyplace when you get tired of it. A child needs CONSTANT attention, and it needs YOU to provide for its most basic needs, be it food, a clean diaper, medicine when it is sick or hurt, clothes, or whatever!
Have you seen those shows on "Maury", when young teenaged girls like yourself talk about how they want a baby of their own, and they will stop at nothing without any regards to their own health or safety or the reactions of their loved ones, or those shows where a teenaged girl has a baby or two, and she has absolutely NO clue as to who the father is?? Well, I have, and I don't want that happening to you! You are just a kid, Ash, and even though you may think that I don't know anything, I DO, as I am your MOTHER, and I KNOW what being a mother is all about! Motherhood, let alone, having a baby, is NOT a game to be taken lightly: it is SERIOUS stuff, and once you have a child of your own, you have to provide for it as long as it is still alive! And as your child ages, it only gets more expensive!
I have you two kids--yourself and your little brother, Colton--, and at times I wish I never had you because to care for you is so darn expensive! I know that isn't nice to say, but at times you two wear me out, and it is enough to make me want to scream, what with your busy sports schedules, Colt's therapy sessions or doctor's appointments, the need for food, clothes, or shelter, and so on and so forth! It doesn't help that your goddamn father left me alone to raise you, and he has no idea about how you two are faring, or even gives a rat's ass about you two! I always said that he was a loser, and I figured by now he would show his sorry ass and come back into your lives; but he doesn't give a FUCK about YOU, your brother, or ANYTHING but himself or his goddamn booze!
This is why I don't want you to throw your life away at 14, Ashley. You are still my little girl, and even when you get to be an adult or have kids of your own, you will ALWAYS BE my little girl, and I love you with all my heart and soul! I love your brother, too, and he will always be my little boy, even if he gets big and has a whole nestful of kids!
So please consider what I have talked to you about. I don't want to be hurt by your actions, and I hate to see you throwing your life away for some loser!
I'll second that K&K, it's simply put, a tragic thing, for rarely do girls this age ever really recover emotionally, heck it's bad enough at 21 when the sod clears off and leaves you with it.

this needs to be shown to every teen out there who thinks they want a baby, because they want something to love...a baby is a massive responsibility, and these kids just don't see it
