I hope that everyone has a safe, happy, and great Fourth of July!!
I love the Fourth of July: I love everything about it--the parades, the foods, the picnics, the family togetherness, the sea of flags or people dressed in red, white, or blue (or all three!), and especially the music and the FIREWORKS!! I think the fireworks are the best part of the whole deal, especially the crysanthemums! (Say THAT three times fast, Johnny! LOL)
Next to Christmas, I think I like the Fourth of July best. The Fourth of July is our nation's birthday, and every year it just seems to get better and better! We usually go to Centennial Park here in downtown Nashville, Tennessee (where we live) for the annual "Fourth of July BLAST!" Festival and Celebration, and we always have a great time. We go to hear the patriotic music, and we go to enjoy the rides they have set up, and enjoy the parade and the FIREWORKS! The festival is held for three days, and this year it is on the weekend: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The reason is because the Fourth of July happens to fall on a Sunday this year. And there will be more celebrations on Monday if they don't have the fireworks on Sunday or if the fireworks are rained out. That may happen this year; the Weather Channel people (as well as my NOAA weather radio) say we may have rain for the Fourth of July. I hope not; I HATE it whenever the fireworks get rained out! That is always such a HUGE drag!!
This year I may perform at the festival. My sister, Ronee', is; she has performed there for the past several years, and the people always enjoy her. I only sing when I am feeling good or if I am not having too much trouble with my muscular dystrophy (or my breathing). That is why I don't perform nearly as much as my sister does; but when I DO perform, I love it! I love the feeling I get whenever people clap for me! That is one of the greatest feelings in the whole, entire world! Ronee' is kind of used to it (she enjoys it too; she loves to make people happy with her music!), but me, I only get to experience that happy feeling when I perform. (That isn't nearly as often as I would really like!)
I also like seeing my friends there. I always run into Jose', my best bud, and his family there, and we always end up sitting with one another's families during the fireworks show and the symphony concert proceeding the fireworks. I also see some of my other school buddies there, and we always love to goof off or just annoy the flop out of one another until mama or daddy get mad at us! LOL
But the best part of the whole sheBANG (get it?? Fireworks? BANG?? LOL SORry, I could NOT resist! LOL) is probably the fireworks themselves. The firework displays have been nothing short of specTACular, and in the past few years they have had fireworks I have never even SEEN before! Now they have fireworks that look like rain is coming down, and they also have fireworks that make shapes like hearts, circles, or stars. It is really cool what they have come up with in fireworkdom! LOL And the colors they use now...pink, purple, orange, and lavendar in addition to the standard white, red, blue, yellow, and green! WOWIE, I always get a huge kick out of the fireworks!! :)
I just wanted to write to you and wish you a happy July Fourth while I am waiting for mama and daddy to finish getting ready before we go to the park and go to the festival! I will be very busy the next few days, and I will write later on in a day or two (or even three!), and I will let you know how everything went, including my being on stage! Have fun, and stay safe, and enjoy those BOOM-BOOMS!! :D
