Jodie's first attempt at telling her story, in her own words.
Jodie that is me. I am big girl I will be 13 years.
I am a very pretty little girl. I have long black hair that I wear in pig-tails, and I have brown eyes that tilt upwards. I was born in a country called Korea, when I was three, I was adopted by my family, I still live with this family today.
I live with family in big house. I have big family who love me and take good care of me.
I can't walk or talk good. I am in w/c, can't walk, never have walk. I talk but few words, now learnin to type on my wordboard. I type by wearing a pointer attached to a band on my head, and I type by hitting the typewriter keys with my pointer. I am not very good at it yet, but I AM trying! So if this look funny, plz do excuse me. I am trying my best here, so have patince. (patience)
I have mother and father, many brothers, sisters too, we also have pets. Dogs, cats, birds, horses. I love my family very much.
I am the way I am because I have c.p. (That's cerebral palsy to you.) I can't feed myself or dress myself, and I always be in w/c. I eat by tube cause I can't chew or swallow. I also can't go to bathroom on my own, I wear diapers like a baby. But I am still a happy kid, I love to laugh, sing, look at myself in a miror, go to therapy, be with ppl. I also love to go to places with my family. I also love to read and am now learnin to write so I can express myself more than I can by mouth.
Ppl think I don't know nothing but I do. I know lots of things. I know when ppl are being mean to me, or I know when I am feeling sad/happy/mad/scared. I can let ppl know just how I feel by my face, or by my eyes, if they look at my face or my eyes, they know how I am feeling. I also make noises, my noises are happy or sad, this tells them how I am feeling. I CAN learn, but I don't learn fast, this is why I don't know as much as most ppl my age. I am retarted, but that is okay. At least I can still learn, I just don't do it very fast is all!
I hate it when ppl make fun of me. They call me dummy or other bad names, and it makes me cry. It also makes my family mad when they tease me. I also hate it when ppl stare at me like I am like some sort of ugly bug, that makes me mad too! I also hate it when they make faces when I have accident in my diaper, but I can't help that!
I will be in junior high in fall, I go to special needs class. I love school, I have many friends there. My best friend is named Piper. I also have another friend, Pier, who is her twin. They have c.p. too, but not nearly as bad as me. I also have a good friend in my teacher, Miss Kelly. She is really sweet on me, and she always makes me laugh! She will be my teacher again this year. I had her last year, and the year before that.
Well, I must go, I have to eat my food soon. It takes me an hour to eat. I eat by tube in stomach, and I don't have to worry about choking, so this is why I eat this way. I will write more soon. Bye-bye for now!
