A mother writes of her greatest blessings as a wife, mother, and a Christian.
What was good about today? Well, I will tell you.
First of all, I woke up breathing. Secondly of all, I woke up knowing that know matter what happens, God is always in control, even when we may think that He doesn't even care. Thirdly, I woke up realizing that I am blessed to have such a loving husband who has had to put up with all my quirks and idiosyncrasies throughout the years (we have been married 13 years now), and that God has eased our burden of wanting to have children by giving us children that nobody else wanted, as a way of getting over the loss and grief of our own three children.
I also had a good day because I have been able to pay our bills (some are overdue, but they still get paid as soon as we get some extra money, and somehow God always provides when we least expect it or need it the most), and I also had a good day because I have God in my life and I know that without a shadow of a doubt that I am going to go to Heaven and be with God forever and ever. God has been very good to our "little" family, even when things seemed at their worst and when He seemed to be so far away. He has brought us through some of the worst things imaginable. He has brought us through the shadows of death, fear, uncertainty, darkness, anger, unforgiveness, and doubt, and He has allowed us to grow and develop in our Christian walk to the point to where we are today, and because of it, we are a lot stronger in our faith, and He has been blessing us in ways we would never dream (or expected). He has taught us that even in bad times, He is there, and He will never abandon or forsake us. He loves us too much, and He delights in blessing His children in any way He possibly can. We also have a very good church that is very spirit-filled and Bible-based, and I don't know what I would do without my church family at Christ Community Assembly of God. They have been so supportive of me and my family, and they have taken us under their wing and celebrated with us when things went well, and cried (and prayed) with us when things weren't. Church has been one of the best things to happen to our family, and it has only brought us closer together and stronger in our Christian faith.
I had a good day because our children know of God and His love for them, and they have taught me much about what it means to be a parent, and that they have more determination and spunk in their bodies than I do in mine. They have overcome amazing tragedy and obstacles, and they do not know what it means to give up or quit. When things get sticky, they just keep on plugging away, to the best of their abilities; and they won't stop until their goals are reached, big or small. Our children all have the Love of Jesus in their faces, and they are happy, well-adjusted, intelligent kids with a lot to offer to the world. They have shown people that even though they may be "disabled" in one way or another, they are still kids first, and they will accomplish anything they set their minds to, and nobody can persuade them otherwise. Sure, at times, they may not do things as soon as most kids their age, but they will reach their goal, and it is always a case of celebration when they do.
Another reason why I had a good day is because none of our children had to go to the hospital or to the emergency room: any day without having to call for an ambulance or someone getting sick all of a sudden is always a good cause of celebration and praise, and we owe every one of our good days to the One Above, our Lord God. He is the Reason why we have perservered, and He is the Reason why our lives have been so blessed. He has given us so much in the way of hope and Miracles, and He has given us reason to believe and to hold onto our faith, even when things are bleak or full of uncertainty.
I am also happy today because I wasn't in as much pain today, and I was able to move around better. I didn't have to take a good, long, hot soaking bath to unstiffen my joints or my back, and I was able to walk easier on my cane without having to struggle or wanting to use my electric scooter. I also got blessed at church, and I also found out that Jenna had her surgery last week, and she is now recovering and is doing quite well. She emailed me a quickie letter, and it was soo good to hear from her; I was just starting to wonder about her! And I also heard from Kendra in California and her kids are all doing quite well for themselves. In addition, I heard that my nurse, Kerry Weaver, is now out of the hospital, recovering from her spider bite, and although she will be out of commission for a while, she IS feeling somewhat better, and she called me to tell me that she was home and is now resting and taking it easy. I also mailed in my manuscript for my second book, "Nurse Stories: A Collection Of Hope, Health, and Healing", and I am hoping for the best. (My last book, "A Family Made Out of Rainbows and Miracles--The Sandusky Family Story: A True Story of Love and International Adoption", did fairly well; so far, it has sold over 1,000 copies on the local level, and it may be going to Christian bookstores across the country if enough interest is generated.)
As you can see, I have a lot to be thankful for, and I can consider myself blessed beyond measure. I don't know what I have done to deserve all these good things that keep on happening in my life, but I sure hope that the blessings continue--I can get used to this! :)

Okay 13 years of marriage can still be a save time BUT BOY AFTER 33 years makes quite a difference.....lol.....wink!! Then your outlook might become a little difficult to express...lol!!
