A person struggling with numerous health issues learns to appreciate the many blessings in her life and in the lives of her family.
I don't understand it, but it seems that no matter what I have gone through in my life, God has been there with me, every step of the way, and it is He that has made me a better (and stronger) person.
This is M'Buti Ayala Moore-Sormiento. I don't know what I have done to deserve all these good things that keep on happening to me and my little fmaily, but I don't feel I am deserving of the things that have been happening to me.
First of all, we recently had storm damage, and we have been living in a house full of holes and plastic (covering the holes in our walls and our roof), and my husband has been relying on a neigbor to get him (and also me) to work or appointments because his HUMMER was damaged, and right now, the only vehicle we have is my orange Volkswagen Bug, but I need that to get to work and also to school. Secondly, we have been getting strange envelopes in the mail that have contained money, and we have no idea where it is coming from or who is sending it. We also have been finding packages of food on our doorstep, and we have been having people call, asking us if we need anything.
Secondly of all, I have managed to stay pretty healthy, all things considering; and I haven't had as much of a problem with my blood pressure bottoming out, and I feel more rested than I have in months, even though I am the mother to three small children all under the age of six (and two of them are twin babies just over a year old now). I have been getting more in the way of sleep, and I don't feel as windy or stressed; I feel better now than I have in months! I also don't seem to be having as much pain, and if I do, my husband is there to rub my shoulders or my back, and he is more than happy to help me out. I have even managed to clean the house to where it looks somewhat liveable, and I no longer feel embarrassed about having people come over. (I am sure that they do ask questions when they see the holes in our walls and in our roof and see the plastic all over; but I tell them we had storm damage, and we are going to get it fixed as soon as we can get some more money.)
Thirdly, our kids have managed to stay healthy: Jubaki only had one round of the flu, and he also had a bad cold; and the twins managed to make it through the flu season without catching it; and my husband and myself managed to make it through, too. Of course it helped that we all got flu shots before the supply ran out; and it helped that in case we did get sick, we were more than ready to handle it.
Our dog, "Rodriguez", also managed to stay well, and the veterinarian had pronounced him as healthy during his last rabies shot and check up. So I am grateful for that, too.
We have also been blessed with good friends, and we have been blessed with our jobs and with life in general. Things couldn't look any better for us than they have been right now, and right now I am happy and feel like my life has purpose. I am no longer so depressed or worried about things, and I have felt like smiling or laughing for the first time since I can't really remember when! Church has also helped; I have even managed to go to church with my husband when he doesn't have to work, and of course, the kids go too; and we just get so much out of it! We love learning about the Lord, and we love the fellowship and support that our church brings to our family!
I also have been blessed in knowing that my brothers back in Africa are doing well: Naiser is still working at hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, and Keserian is still tending to his cattle and is getting around better since being injured last year, and life for them is good, indeed. It is like God is continually blessing our family in ways we haven't expected, and right now, life is very good for all of us. I can't thank Him enough for all that He has done for us already, and I still wonder what we may have done to deserve all this happiness in our lives. I only hope it lasts; a girl like me can get used to this! :)
