Johnny is following up on the Summer Olympic Games from Athens, Greece. He is extremely pleased with how things are going so far for the Americans.
He also writes about yesterday, when his sister broke her wrist in a fall, and about his dog, "Ginger", who is due to come home from the hospital tomorrow before the family leaves for Louisiana and about their upcoming trip to Louisiana, where they will be attending a Cajun music festival over the weekend.
Well, Phelps (as in Michael Phelps, a swimming phenom from the U.S.) did it again. Today, he managed to strike gold, not once, but TWICE! He now has five Olympic medals to his name! (And he may get more in the coming days!)
I have been watching the Olympic Games from Athens, Greece, ever since Friday, and although the Games started out slowly, they have since picked up the pace, and the Americans are really coming into their own at the Games! Yesterday, the U.S. Gymnastics team (the men's) brought home the silver medal, just narrowly missing out on the gold, which went to Japan. (Romania's gymnastic team got the bronze medal. The U.S. men's team was favored to win the gold, but they got the silver medal instead. Still not a bad showing; at least they medaled!) I have enjoyed the Olympics so far, but I am kind of sad, too, because this may be the last Olympics I will ever see; so I had better enjoy them while I still can!
This is Johnny Sandusky. I am sitting here in my room, watching MSNBC on tv; they have a lot of Olympics coverage, so I have had my eyes glued to the action on the TV screen. I wish I could be there, at the Olympics; ever since two years ago, when M'Buti and Roberto, friends of ours, went to the Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, and also to the Sydney (Australia) Summer Games four years ago in 2000, I have wanted to go to an Olympic games, and I can't help but feel a little jealous of Roberto and M'Buti because they have been TO an Olympics, not once, but TWICE, and I have NEVER been!
I am trying to keep my mind busy and occupied. I don't want to think about yesterday. My stupid sister, Ronee', broke her wrist yesterday, and now she has to wear a cast on her arm for six weeks. She can't use her crutches, and she is really mad at herself. Mama and Ronee' were at the Emergency Room for over five hours, and I was starting to wonder if I would EVER see them again or whether Ronee' had been admitted to the hospital, but then I saw them pull up in the van, and I was happy to see them both, but Ronee' had a purple cast on her arm, and she did NOT look at ALL happy! In fact, she looked rather mad! I knew better than to get her mad, judging from the scowl on her face; she is not the nicest person to be around when she is hurting! So I played it safe and stayed holed up in my room, where I watched the Olympics! (Better safe than sorry, you know?? LOL)
My helping dog, "Ginger", is coming home from the animal hospital tomorrow, and frankly, I can't wait! I feel so lost without her! She is my arms and legs from when I drop things, and she helps me so much! She also alerts mama and daddy if I am about to have a seizure, and she is a very good dog. Smart, too! She nearly died when she got into some chocolate and poisoned herself; she was a very sick little puppy, and I was so worried that she was going to die; but the veterinarians at the hospital battled to save her life, and now she will be coming home tomorrow! I can't wait to see her again; I have really missed her like crazy!
Mama was sick herself, last week, so there has been a lot of sickness in my family as of late. But she is now over her sinus infection, and she is back to her normal speed.
Tomorrow we will be going to Louisiana; we are going to the LeCajun Cajun Music Awards Festival in Lafayette, and the only reason we are going there is because mama loves Cajun music, and we have gone there the past several years. Ronee' is also scheduled to perform there, but she won't be playing her Cajun accordion or her other instruments, thanks to her busted wrist. She will only sing. I love going to the LeCajun thing, but Louisiana is way too hot for me, and I would just as soon stay in the hotel room and sleep! All that Cajun music can give me a headache after a while, and I am not into it as my family is! I can only take so much before I have had enough of listening to it! LOL We will leave for Louisiana tomorrow, and we will probably get in Friday afternoon sometime before the festival on Saturday and Sunday. We will stay at the Hilton Lafayette, and we will be at the festival all day Saturday and Sunday. (WONDERMOUS. Just what my head or ears do NOT need! LOL) Then we will leave Monday to come back home to Tennessee, and depending on the weather or traffic, we should be back home in Tennessee sometime on Thursday afternoon.
Well, I am going to catch some more Olympic action, so I will catch y'all on the flipside, and I will write again soon! This is Johnny Sandusky saying, "Over and out"! :)
By the by: just heard that the women's gymnastics struck silver too; they lost to Romania; Romania got the gold. Still, they did medal, and I am happy for them! Go, USA! Some more medals to our list; keep on keepin' on! LOL
