Howdy! How are y'all doing down there in the Lone Star State? Hope this finds y'all well and (reasonably) happy! We are fine; we are still at the LeCajun Awards and Music Festival, and we are waiting the start of the awards ceremony. Hopefully, with a little luck, everything will be done by six, and we can get back to the hotel by eight; and then sometime tomorrow, we will leave for home, back to Tennessee.
We have been having fun at the cajun festival; we saw a lot of the big guns (and even the newer stars) of Cajun music, and Ronee' sparkled during her set, even though she only sang. People were sorry to see Ronee' 's arm in a cast, but her broken arm didn't affect her singing, and she did a really terrific job! She is feeling pretty good, and she had fun singing! I even danced a few times, but I only did the waltz; I am afraid my Cajun two-steppin' days are history, thanks to my hips, knees, ankles, and back! Also my sciatica was singing (and NOT for joy, either! LOL), so I didn't dance as much as I would have otherwise liked! But the kids got some serious dancing in, and they all had a ball!
Some of the Cajun acts we saw included Belton Richard, Hunter Hayes, Helen Boudreaux, Jackie Caillier and "The Cajun Cousins", "BeauSoleil", and Sheryl Cormier; they all managed to get the crowd moving to the Cajun music, and it was good to see them again in concert! We saw friends we hadn't seen since the last time we were at LeCajun, and we also saw my sisters from Texas; they came to LeCajun, too, and we all had a big time! The kids had fun playing (and dancing) with their cousins, and we ate jambalaya, gumbo, and other Cajun goodies! YUM!
Thank you for writing, Diane; it is always good to hear from you again! Glad y'all are doing well; and glad that school will start soon. I know it isn't soon enough for you; but that's the breaks when you have kids! LOL Our school doesn't start until the Tuesday after Labor Day, and the kids are actually looking FORWARD to school starting up again, strange as it may sound! But my kids LOVE school, and they always have!
Yes, we are aware of the show, "America's Most Talented Kids", coming up on PAX. The show is holding auditions next week here in Nashville, and Ronee' wants to audition. Hopefully, she will do well, but if not, that is okay, too. She has already been on "Star Search", but it would be nice if she could get in as part of the "AMTK" show! I will let you know how Ronee' fares after the auditions are over, okay?
Yes, we have been watching the Olympics, thanks, in part, to our son, Johnny. Johnny has been keeping us regularly updated with the results of the Olympics, so we aren't kept in the dark! LOL Boy, that Carly Patterson and Micheal Phelps have really been something, haven't they? Carly is such a talented young gymnast, and my daughter, Gemini, just ADORES her! As for Micheal, he sure has accomplished much during the Olympics, hasn't he? Eight medals, the most ever won by an athlete (he is tied with a Russian athlete, but his name is THIS LONG, so don't even ASK me to recall it because I can't! And DON'T ask me to attempt to try to spell the Russian athlete's name either! LOL), and he has done our nation proud! Yes, there will be a sudden surge in both gymnastics and swimming, thanks to our Olympic heroes Micheal Phelps and Carly Patterson!
The weather has been pretty rainy in Tennessee, but last week it was pretty nice (for ONCE!). In fact, we even managed to get in some needed housework and yardwork done, and now our house (and our yard) no longer look so unkempt or neglected! LOL Sorry it is hot there in Texas; it's bene cooler than average here, and we have enjoyed it. But Louisiana (where we are at now, as I write this letter), is hot, humid, and it is thundering and raining; you can hear the thunder and hear the rain pouring down. As long as the power doesn't go out, then we are sitting pretty! At least we are INSIDE at the festival, and not outside! I don't want to be dodging lightning bolts OR raindrops, especially since I AM on a metal cane! LOL I don't want to be doing the "Electric Shuffle," Cajun style, if you know what I mean! LOL Hope it cools off somewhat for y'all down there in Texas!
Well, Diane, I am trying to pay attention to the nominees (and winners) of the LeCajun Awards, so I will write you when we get back to Tennessee. I hope to be back home by next Thursday evening at the latest, and I hope our journey back home isn't fraught with problems! That'd be the LAST thing we'd need!
