Ronee' shares how her weekend went at the LeCajun Music Awards and Festival, which was held in Lafayette, Louisiana. She also writes about an upcoming audition she has, and also some about the Olympic Games being held in Athens, Greece.
Hey, y'all! This is Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux speaking!
I am on my way home from Louisiana; our family went to the LeCajun Awards and Music Festival, which was held at the Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette, Louisiana, and as always, we had a ball! I got to sing on Saturday, as part of the entertainment line up at LeCajun, and even though I didn't play my accordion or my other instruments (I broke my wrist almost a week ago this coming Wednesday), I still had fun singing! I also got to see some of the best Cajun music acts in the business, and I got to get their autographs and got to have my picture made with some of them!
The weather in Louisiana was "iffy" at best. They had scattered thunderstorms from time to time, and it was humid; but that is what you expect in Louisiana in the summertime! I wasn't bothered much by it, but poor Johnny was; he kept complaining it was too darn hot for him, and he wanted to watch the Olympics back at the hotel room, so mama let him! He didn't even come to LeCajun, which made me mad! LOL
This coming weekend, I will be auditioning for a spot on the upcoming tv talent show, "America's Most Talented Kids", on PAX tv. It used to be on NBC last summer, as part of the summer line-up, and there will be kids from ages three on up to 15 auditioning for the show. I don't know how well I will do, but I will give it my Olympic best, and I will try to do the best job I possibly can! I wish I could play my Cajun accordion (or my other instruments), but since I can't, I guess I will just sing. Now the trick is trying to figure out which song I am going to sing! LOL
I watched some of the Olympics from Athens, Greece, on Friday, but I didn't see them either on Saturday or yesterday. I did hear of the women's softball getting the gold medal after they beat the Australians 5-1, and also that the Koreans are still whining about Paul Hamm of the USA getting the gold medal when they should have won it (or so they say!). I also have been hearing about Russian "diva" Svetlana Khorkina whining about Carly Patterson (also of the USA) winning the gold in the women's gymnastic all around, saying that SHE should have won! But the fact is, Carly had a much better routine than Svetlana, and Svetlana had some mistakes that were very obvious to both the judges and those people who were at the meet; and so she got the silver medal instead. I don't know what Svetlana is so upset about: at least she WON a medal, even if it WAS the silver, and besides, it's like she had never WON an Olympic medal in the first place! What she fails to realize is that she won gold at the Sydney, Australia, Olympic Games four years ago, in 2000! She should be happy she got a medal, even if it WASN'T the gold!
If you ask me, Svetlana Khorkina is being a very poor sport about the whole thing! I think her attitude stinks, and I am sorry, but I think Carly was more deserving of the gold medal!
I will let you know how I did for the audition for the "America's Most Talented Kids" tv show. Hopefully, I will have made it, but if not, oh well...at least I gave it my best shot! I will write soon; until then, take care, and God bless!
