Louisiana Sandusky in Nashville, Tennessee, writes her friend in Del Rio, Texas, another letter after Diane R. Aguilar writes to her.
Friday, the 27th of August, 2004~
Dear Diane:
Thank you for yor letter; I am sorry for not responding sooner, but I just got back with my daughter, Ronee', who had an audition. She audtioned for the upcoming TV talent show to be shown on PAX, "America's Most Talented Kids", and she may have a second audition; the people seemed to really like her! For her audition, she sang "Coal Miner's Daughter", and she did a really nice job! I was so proud of her! The TV people said to expect a call in a day or two regarding a second possible audition. I don't know how this will lead, or what will happen, but a possible callback sounds quite promising indeed! We were gone for about two hours; I got off work early so I could take Ronee' to her audition, and she seemed to do quite well! Will let you know what transpires of this; keep us in your prayers!
I already responded to my friends Sari Gustaffssenn in Finland (but she is now in Athens, Greece, where she is at the Olympics! LUCKY her! She said she was having an absolute blast, but she hates to see the Olympics coming to a close, and she is sad at the thought of leaving and going back home to Finland) and Sikik Eegeesiak (now is THAT a name or WHAT?? Took ME a while to learn to spell it right! LOL) in northernmost Alaska; she lives in the northern city of Barrow; and when I got home, I found I had to write to you, so I am! I have yet to respond to Jenna Aurora Whitson, my other Alaskan friend, and HOPEFULLY I will be caught up! But I am afraid I am not: my AOL message just let me know "I've got mail", and it may be from my friend in California, Kendra Mae Williams. Wonder what is up with her? I guess I will have to wait until I open her letter and see what she wrote.
Maybe it is about our upcoming picnic for AASK (Aid to the Adoption of Special Kids); hopefully, they can come. At last check, they said they were coming, so I am hoping that nothing has happened to change their plans, especially since they have already gotten their airline tickets and paid for a hotel here in Nashville! That would be awful if they couldn't come; I have really been looking forward to getting to meet my California friends at long last!
Our school doesn't start until the Tuesday after Labor Day. So sorry to hear your kids' schools are starting up on Monday; I know the kids must be disappointed in knowing that their summer vacation is about up! I know you aren't looking forward to having Rosita go back to Austin; that must be so hard for y'all to have a child so far away from home and knowing you can't see her but a few times a year! It's like my one daughter, Dwerlina. She is going to be going back to school in September (in fact, her school starts fall quarter on the 13th of September, 2004), but she can't be home with us to enjoy the summer break because she has two jobs, and she is busy with both her jobs. She works six days a week, sometimes seven. I wish I could see Dwerlina more than I do (I see her only during Christmas or during sudden family emergencies), but her jobs and schooling prevent her from traveling home, and it is as rough on her as it is on us, her fmaily.
How have you and Humberto been feeling? How have the kids been doing? Hope this letter finds y'all in the best possible health; I have been keeping y'all in my prayers! We have also added your names to our prayer group at my church, Christ Community Assembly of God, so you have been getting a lot of prayer! I hope y'all don't mind!
Do you have a picture of your family or yourself? I would love to see what y'all look like! I will be emailing y'all some pictures of our house and our family; that way, you can see who you are writing to! LOL I think you will like what I will send you once I get the pictures taken! I will also send y'all some pictures of the kids from a few years back; my, how they are growing! It seems the older I get, the faster the years seem to fly by when they just dragged their heels when I was a child! LOL Where HAVE all the years gone? I would love to have some of them back! LOL
Has the weather cooled off any there in Texas? Here it is pretty warm, but not too bad; we may get a cooldown over the weekend to the start of next week. They may be calling for severe storms here; I hope not; we have already had damage from an earlier storm we had back in June; we don't NEED any more in the way of "damage"! Once was more than enough!
Next week we will be busy gearing up for the MDA Telethon, which we participate in every Labor Day. Johnny and the current MDA Poster Child will be there, as will past "poster children" (and adults) who suffer from neuromuscular disease. We always enjoy the telethon, and we always enjoy the spirit of goodwill and helping others who aren't as fortunate; and we are happy to know that there are people who truly DO care about our Kids, like the firefighters, Wal*Mart, 7-11, GM, and so many other companies! We also have to thank the regular, everyday people who volunteer their time in helping out at the MDA camps or drives, or at the functions; and we just can't imagine our lives without any of these fine folk! Sure, it won't be the same without little Mattie Stepanek, the little boy who wrote all those best selling poetry books and touched the hearts and consciousness of a nation with his courage and bravery, but we have to move on and hope that a cure for muscular dystrophy (and ALL the more than 40 neuromuscular diseases, really) will be found SOON!
Well, Diane, I will write after the picnic. The AASK picnic will be held on Sunday, at 2 in the afternoon, at Centennial Park, so we will be there all day. I will write probably Monday or Tuesday at the earliest, depending on how things go with Ronee' 's (possible) callback for "America's Most Talented Kids", the upcoming Muscular Dystrophy Telethon on Labor Day weekend, the picnic itself, and other factors. Hopefully, nobody will get sick or end up unexpectedly in the hospital; with this coming busy week, we certainly DON'T need any of THAT!
Until I hear from you again, you take care, and God bless you mightily! Love you LOTS! Enjoy all that I am sending to you!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your Tenn. friend, Louisiana May (who really IS in Tennessee as of this writing! LOL). :D
