Ronee' shares some more details about the picnic that she and her family attended.
We got home last night from our picnic about 9 last night; and we really had a great time. We had fun visiting with new friends like the Williams family of California, and I had fun getting to know Kendra and her daughters (Mia, Anna Grace, Linda, Mary, Mariah, Kim, Kelly, Sarah, Sally, Francie, Wendy, and Keisha), and I had fun playing with the girls, especially Anna Grace. She stuck to me like glue, and it made me smile when she proclaimed me as her "new bestest friend in the world"! :)
The rain managed to stop about five, and although the grounds were wet, the dampness didn't break the happy spirit of the picnic or dampen the appetites; everyone ate well, and the kids (and even the adults) had fun playing the picnic games and contests, and the AASK people awarded prizes to those families who were the biggest (ours got that! LOL), the most inspiring, the most colorful (we got that one too!), the most unique, and so on down the line. We got certificates to some clothing stores and some mall certificates, as well as some coupons for dinner out at places like the Golden Corral and Olive Garden (YUMMO!). Anyway, we were so wrapped up in eating and visiting everyone and getting to know new friends that we completely forgot about the closing ceremonies for the Olympics in Greece. I would have liked to have seen the closing ceremonies, and I know that Johnny would have liked to have seen them; he is very big on the Olympics; but then again, we all are! We watch the Olympics, both the winter and summer Games, and we always enjoy them. Anyway, the next Olympics will be in 2006, in Turin, Italy (I THINK that is the name of the city!), for the winter, and the next summer Olympics will be held in Beijing, China, in 2008. I bet the closing ceremonies were nothing short of spectacular; I will have to check on my computer to see what exactly happened, and also see pictures of the closing ceremonies. If past Olympics are any indication, I bet these closing ceremonies were full of pageantry and wild celebration, now that the pressures of competing are now off the athletes who worked their butts off to get to the Olympics! I bet they are glad the Olympics are over!
Anyway, back to the picnic: as I said earlier, we stuffed ourselves silly, and we had fun running around and acting all stupid and stuff, and it was good to burn off the excess energy we had built up from being inside watching the Olympic action on tv, plus going to church and sitting there listening to Pastor Bilkey do his sermon. (Sometimes, I get bored during his sermons, and I always get sleepy. I was like that yesterday. Maybe it was the rainy weather, plus my joints were hurting to beat the band, so I was up a good part of the night, and by the time we got to church, I was pretty tired.) We left before altar call, so we could get ready and be at the park before the picnic, and we were there for a good part of the day. It was fun while it lasted, and I can't wait to write to Anna Grace or my other new friends I met yesterday! We will have a regular email session, and letters will be flyin' everywhere, be it on computer or in the mailbox! LOL
All I have to say is this: I am already looking forward to the next AASK picnic next summer! (Hopefully the weather will be a lot nicer than it was during yesterday's picnic!)
