Dear Louie:
My, it seems hard to believe, but it is September already, and the kids are now back in school; and Rosita is back at her school in Austin! The house is unbelievably quiet; I almost forget what quiet sounded like! LOL Are your kids back in school already? If not, when do they go back?
Thanks for writing; I loved the cute picture of the squirrel you used on your last letter! Sure hope your picnic went well; and hope that the weather was nice! You will have to tell me all about it the next time you write!
I am happy that Ronee' made it through her audition; I hope that she makes it to the show! That would be too cool! I remember watching "America'a Most Talented Kid" when it was on NBC last summer, and I really enjoyed it. I really liked that little four-year-old drummer, Cole Marcus, and that little blonde-haired girl who sang "New York, New York". I think her name was Brandy; I can't recall her last name, but boy, she was sure cute! So was that little drummer! Let me know if Ronee' had her "callback", and how she did during that, okay? Thanks!
I know you are busy gearing up for the MDA telethon, seeing you have a child with MD. I am so sorry that he has to go through the horrors of the disease! Please let me know how he is doing; I will most certainly put him on our prayer list at my church here in Del Rio, and we will have our church family lift him up in prayer! I know the telethon must be draining on you all, as you are reminded of what he is facing; that has got to be so hard! But if I know your son, he seems like a very brave and courageous young boy, and I do hope that he lives long enough to become an adult or live long enough to see a cure for MD or all neuromuscular diseases! Oh, wouldn't that be wonderful!!
I am sure that you had fun at your picnic! How many families came, and were they just from the Tennessee area, or did they come from all over? Which family came the furthest distance, and was your family the biggest one there? (Probably, says Diane! LOL) What a lovely thing to adopt kids with special needs; they certainly do enrich people's lives, don't they? I know my kids do; they are such blessings, and I or Humberto just can't imagine our lives without any of them!
The weather here in Texas is starting to cool down, but it is still hot, with temps in the 90's (but it isn't nearly as hot as it has been, thank goodness!). Hope the rain there has stopped; hear y'all have had oodles of the wet stuff! Sure do hope y'all know how to swim, or y'all will be in a pickle! LOL Here's hoping the nasty weather there ends soon! At least y'all ain't in Florida, what with that huge hurricane heading towards Florida! Glad you don't live there, I bet that is what you are thinking! I do hope that they make it through; I know hurricanes can be scary! Have you ever been through a hurricane? If not, they are quite scary, and once you have experienced the full fury of a hurricane, it won't soon be forgotten!
I watched the President speak last night, and I liked what he had to say. He may not be the best president we have ever had, but I think he has done wonders for our country, and I would much rather have a man of God in the office than somebody two-faced like John Kerry! I don't know why, but I look at John Kerry, and I get an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach! What did you think of President Bush's speech last night? Or are you a Kerry supporter? (Gosh, I HOPE not! LOL) I hope President Bush wins the election; I don't think our nation could handle John Kerry! He is too inexperienced, and something about him makes me think of him as being too wishy-washy; and I am sorry, but that is one thing our country does NOT need right now, especially with the terror threats that we have had! We have already been hit once with terrorism, nearly three years ago, in fact, on September 11, 2001, and President Bush is doing his absolute darndest to keep our country safe! Sure, we do not need to be in Iraq now, but we are there, and we must pray for our troops (especially those families who have lost loved ones, far too many, if you ask me!), but we are trying to help liberate a people who've been oppressed for far too long under Saddam Hussein's regime, and we HAVE made strides in the war against terror! And Saddam Hussein has been captured and is awaiting extradition and trial in Iraq! I don't think Kerry would have been able to accomplish what Bush has had! Besides, it is because OF Bush that our country is safer (and more diligent) now! We need to have a man like him in office; he has done a marvelous job, I think! (Both my husband and myself are voting for Bush come November!)
But in case politics don't interest you (they don't me, either, to tell you the honest truth!), I will turn the tide and go on to something else. Now that the Olympics are over, I guess we have nothing to watch on tv until the fall shows come on, and other than "America's Most Talented Kids", nothing really seems that appealing to me. Too much crime drama, violence, or sexual situations; three things I am NOT interested in! Whatever happened to good old fashioned family programming?? Or shows that kids could watch and LEARN from?? It's sad how trashy television has become! (About the only thing I watch now is the Christian channel! Or I have the kids watch the Learning, Discovery, Animal, or Science channels!) What do you watch on tv, Louie?
Well, I will write more soon; it is about time for the kids to start coming home from school, so I had better make sure that I am there to greet them when the buses come! I want to thank you for writing me, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

I don't make it a practice to read other people's mail! However, in this case sneaking a peek at this inspiring and wonderful gem you've penned, it was all worth it! *smile* You're the best!
