Louisiana writes her friend a letter. It is a slow day at the hospital; and there isn't much for her to do.

Dear Anna:
Thank you for writing; it is good to hear from you again. I am about to die from boredom: it is a very slow day at work; only have two patients to take care of, and they aren't that desperately sick to where I have to keep hoppin' from one to the other, as a way to monitor their vital signs and stuff. They are both on MedSurg, and they are both recovering well. ( I am taking care of two women: one in her 40's--she had a hysterectomy--, and another one with asthma. She is in her 60's. She also has lymphodema and diabetes, but she was hospitalized for asthma; and she is recovering well. Oxygen and breathing treatments both seem to be doing the trick.)
I hope this finds you well: I am fine; and I am glad to be home again. We had a long trip; but we made it safely home; and we got out in plenty of time before Hurricane Ivan; so don't you worry about that, no! Besides, Hurricane Ivan is due to hit east of where we were at, around the New Orleans/Mississippi/Georgia/Alabama coastline. But from what I hear, Ivan is something I would NOT want to reckon with! Hurricanes are serious business; and I have been in enough hurricanes to know that it is best to take the warnings and take immediate action to protect both life and property! And if there IS any damage, I know well enough what to do to take care of it and take the necessary steps to report it and notify my insurance company! Of course, we may not have power or food for days, but we can make it!
Living here in Tennessee, about all we have to worry about from any hurricane is the leftover effects; and sometimes the aftereffects can be devastating, especially if flooding or tornadoes are involved. This is one reason I am glad I no longer live in Louisiana; that way, I don't have to face the full force of the hurricanes!
Thank you for wanting to get my daughter, Ronee', a shirt with the Northern Lights on it! She loves teal (also magenta, hot pink, and purple!), and she wears a girl's, small, size 8, slim. She is not very big in size. She will appreciate it; thank you for thinking of her! That is very sweet of you, Anna! (Seems that Sikik in Barrow had the same thought: she is going to pick up a shirt for Ronee', so Ronee' will now have two new shirts with the Northern Lights on the front! She will be a very happy camper when she gets the news!)
Ronee' DOES have some Native American Indian in her; she also has some Spanish, African-American, and Irish in her blood; but she is mostly Cajun French. She has no Inuit in her that I am aware of! LOL This is why she is so dark of skin, and this is why she has such dark eyes and black hair. She was born in Louisiana, deep in the heart of Cajun Country, near Abbeville.
No, I don't play the Lottery, nor have we ever won a million dollars. Thank you for saying my letters look so professionally done! That is a huge compliment! With my writing, I have learned a few tricks of the trade, and I am now hard at work on my second book. My daughter, Ronee', has recently wrote her first book, and now my son, Johnny, is seriously starting to consider on writing a book about his life as well! Seems that the writing bug is spreading amongst my family members! LOL My husband is even toying around with the idea of doing a book as well!
We did get a wonderful surprise, though, upon our return home: when we pulled up to our house, there was this huge tour bus parked alongside the road, in front of our house. At first, I thought it was some poor, unfortunate performer's bus that had broken down in front of our house or it was the bus from the "Extreme: Home Makeover" team, but the bus had a "For Sale" sign on it, and there was a note on the window. And there were no people around; the bus was just sitting there, empty. It was from "an anonymous donor" who thought we needed some appropriate transportation for lugging our huge family around; and WOW, you should see it! It is black with white, yellow, and harvest-orange squiggly designs on it, and it is absolutely HUGE! There was also a trailor attached behind the bus; and the note said that it could be used for our wheelchairs or transportable medical equipment, our instruments, or whatever, whenever we were on the road someplace! I am still in shock over it; and I am at a loss as to who did such a big thing for us! The bus will be able to fit all of us comfortably, and I guess we now have a "home away from home"! It will be perfect for when we go out to eat at the Corral every Sunday before church, or if we have to perform, we can have our instruments and some of our clothes! It has beds, curtains for privacy, a shower/bath/toilet/sink combo, a little kitchenette, and couches in addition to the regular seats near the front! It is really beautiful, and whoever it was that donated the bus sure went through an awful lot of trouble in brightening our lives in such a big way!
My other kids like computer games (GameBoy, Tetris, that sort of thing; they must be G-rated; I will NOT allow them to play games that have excessive violence or "questionable material" in them!), and they also like books (the classics like "Tom Sawyer", "Oliver Twist", or "Old Yeller", or the "Little House" books or "The Babysitter's Club" books for the girls, and "Hank Zipster", the sports series by Matt Christopher, or the "Lone Star Journals" [by various authors] for the boys, as several examples; they also like the "Dear America" series and the "American Girls" series of books), drawing paper (LOTS of it!) and art supplies, and music (any kind, as long it meets with Bill's or my approval!). Any music will be acceptable: country, pop, rock'n'roll, gospel, easy listening, classical, popular/top 40, Cajun or "world" music, and jazz. They also like music for kids. I hope this helps. Thank you for thinking of my kids; they will be more than happy to get new games, books, art supplies, and music! That is very sweet of you! You don't have to go through all that trouble!
My kids all go to public school, but their education is closely moniotored by both Bill and myself. So far, they are doing well; but if we feel that their educational needs are not being met, we will pull them out and we MAY consider homeschooling. We have looked into it, but with both of us working, it may be impossible for us to do. It would be nice to work at home and be with the kids (AND get paid for it!); but I love my job as a nurse, and Bill loves his job at Wal*Mart. We are both happy at our jobs; and it helps pay our bills. We also get government monies and adoption subsidies, and this helps out greatly too. So we are never short for money (although people oftentimes think otherwise; they are always donating clothes, food, and now even a BUS, for us! There ARE a lot of good people in this world; and we are so blessed to have been helped by some of them!)!
