Howdy, y'all! How are you this fine sunshiney morning? (It's sunny here in Texas! And hot! Supposed to be in the mid to upper 90's here. ICK! Summer's last gasp!) Hope this finds you well and happy!
Did you get a lot of rain from the after-effects of Hurricane Ivan? Saw that it went up your way; from the looks of things on the television, a lot of folks had some heavy-duty flooding, not to mention, damage. Did you sustain any damage, and did you get any flooding? I hope not! I pray y'all are okay!!
I am sorry to hear that Ronee' didn't make it to "America's Most Talented Kids". That is a darn shame! She seems to be quite a talented child, from what you have told me. I am glad that she will be getting her cast off her arm soon; that should make her feel better! How is she doing now? Is she back to terrorizing her brothers and sisters? I hear that she is quite the handful! LOL
I am also happy at the news about your son, Johnny, doing so much better in school! Does he have dyslexia or learning disabilities? Is he autistic in any way? Seems like he has had a lot on his plate, from what you have told me about his past school struggles and also his physical needs. Louie, That has got to be so hard, raising a child with a terminal illness, and knowing that there isn't really anything they can do to help him! It is hard enough raising a child like my Rosita: at 13, she is nonverbal, and she is profoundly mentally disabled. She is not toilet-trained, and she is fed by a tube that has been surgically placed into her belly. She requires oxygen at night because she has tendencies to get serious respiratory illnesses; and one never knows with her when she just may get sick. (As you may recall, Rosita has a very rare chromosomal disorder and other health problems.) But she is at her school in Austin, so at least I get somewhat of a break from her. The needs of the other kids are just as demanding: I have a boy (Chico) with spina bifida, another boy (Rico) with severe c.p. (he is also mentally disabled), and a boy (Humberto, Jr.) with severe asthma, and I also have a girl who is blind (Negra) and a girl who is hearing-impaired (Magda); but I wouldn't trade any of our children for nothing! They are all sweet kids, and I love them all so much! They are the light of my life, and my husband, Humberto, is crazy over them, too!
I don't know why we ended up with the children we did, but ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to have my own family, and I have always wanted to adopt. I knew a family in my childhood neighborhood who adopted some kids from Korea, and I thought that they were the cutest kids I had ever seen; and it really made quite an impression on me. But now I have realized my childhood dream of adoption and having a family; but all of my kids just happen to be Hispanic, just like me and my hubby! Maybe we may end up adopting a child from Asia (Vietnam or Korea) as you have done. You also have adopted kids from Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the States, as well as Canada and Mexico, South (and Central) America, and Canada; you have a veritable "Mini-United Nations" within your familial unit! LOL I'd kind of like to have a family similar to yours; your family is quite interesting!
Well, sweetie, I have to run. Seems that the boys have managed to get into another argument: I can hear them yelling at one another, and from the sounds of it, they are getting ready to rumble.
