Dear Miss Ronee':
I am so sorry to learn of your not feeling well. Is there anything I can do to help you? I heard from your mama today, and she says you are in bed, feeling pretty rotten. I was so unhappy to learn of that! I do hope this finds you feeling better soon!
I know part of it has to do with the fight you had with your sister, Gemini, but honey, you have to know that ALL sisters and brothers fight on occasion! One can't expect brothers or sisters to get along ALL of the time! I am sure she will get over her anger, but maybe she did tell you not to touch her perfume; and since you did, she had a good reason to get mad at you. But that doesn't mean she doesn't love you! If I know your sister, Gemini (and I do, from talking with her on the TTY), she seems to be a very nice girl, and she has told me some very nice things about you! I do hope that you and Gemini work out your differences soon, and I hope that you can make amends and say sorry to one another!
As for your feelings concerning your health problems, that is okay, too, to feel bad when things aren't going smoothly or if you are hurting more than usual. I have my bad days, too, believe you me! There are times I HATE being in a wheelchair or having to walk on a walker just like an old person, and I HATE having only one good working hand! Do you know HOW hard it is to do a lot of things with just one hand? Well, let me tell you something, friend: it t'ain't easy! You don't realize what you can do with both hands until you lose the function in one of them! And then it is awfully hard to come to grips with, and it is even harder to accept and go on! I also hate having to wear the brace on my leg and dragging it; but such as it is when one has suffered serious injuries such as I did! It's a part of the price I have to pay, and unfortunately, short of a Miracle, I am afraid that I will never get better; so I will have to make use of what I have left and try to go on with my life, disability and all!
I AM glad you are out of your cast; that has got to be a huge relief on your part! I know you hated having to sit in your wheelchair all of the time because you were such an active kid, even on your crutches; and you always seemed to have very little difficulty in moving along on your sticks! You are like a little cheetah, and one could barely keep up with you; I remember you in Alaska, and you were a little BLUR at times! You wore me out just WATCHING you! LOL Are you back to using your crutches yet? I hope so; if not, I am sure it won't be long before you are back to using your extra pair of "legs"! LOL
I am sorry to learn that you are having problems with the boys at school, but boys are boys, and unfortunately, they aren't going to change. All you can do is just walk away and ignore their comments, no matter how bad or awful they may seem to be. If the boys find out that their teasing only bothers you and you react to it by crying or getting mad at them, then all they are going to do is tease you all the harder, and make your life a living hell! But you are a very strong child, with a very courageous spirit! Probably the best way to handle these immature boys is just to completely IGNORE them and walk away if they start teasing you! They aren't worth the spit to shine your shoes; they are only acting stupid, and they shouldn't be acting like that! Don't get mad or hit them with your crutches; you are only asking for trouble if you do that! That would only make things worse! (I know because I got in trouble once for slugging a boy when he was making fun of my being deaf! I got three days suspension from school, and then I had to write a letter of apology to the boy and his parents; and then get up in front of the school and apologize! It was very embarrassing, and I still find my face turning red with shame as I think back on it!)
Honey, you also need to focus more on having FUN. You are still a child, and you are too young to be worrying about grown up things! I know "the change" happening right now in your body is scary, and I know that having your period every month is still quite embarrassing and strange to you, but that is a natural part of growing up, and it is NORMAL! It is okay to be concerned or scared about unfamiliar things that are happening to you or your body, and there is nothing that can be done to prevent it from happening; but it doesn't mean you are not normal because you ARE normal! You are changing from a girl to a woman, and getting breasts and having your period are two things that ALL girls go through at one time or another! Sure, some develop earlier, while others may develop later, but you are right on target for your age, and it is nothing to be scared about! If you are having problems, go talk to your mama or your older sisters; they went through what you are going through now, and so they know all the tricks of the trade! Don't be scared to talk to them about sex or getting breasts or even your period: they are female, too, just as you are, and that is a part of entering womanhood! I went through it, your mama and older sisters went through it, and I made it through just fine (as did your mama and sisters!); and you will too! I believe in you!
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to email me. I am as close to you as the computer, and if I don't answer right away, I WILL answer you eventually later on! Or even better, call me on the TTY; I will get back to you as soon as I can, and we can just have some serious "girl talk" and enjoy each other!
Remember this: I love you, very much, and I miss you more each day you aren't here! You are a special part of my life, and I wish I had a daughter like you! You are a very strong child with a sense of courage that I admire, and you are also very smart and talented! I wish I had some of your smarts, and I wish I had my hearing, so I could hear you sing; your mama tells me you have a BEAUTIFUL singing voice, just like an angel's! You may only be a kid, but you are something special, and I consider myself blessed in knowing you! You are a very important part of my life, and I love you with all my heart and soul (and so does Michael!)!
Take care, sweetie, and God bless you! Hope you feel better soon!
((((((((((HUGS))))))))) and much love, your friend, Jenna Aurora from Alaska.
Wow! Left me stunned like a Star Trek phaser set on extra-crispy. There are so many nuggets of wisdom here, so much balance in spirit and perpective... It's obvious you've come a far ways in the discovery of self.
The familiar lament of dual-career parents raising children is, "I just can't do it all." The Libra Solution provides an alternative - a more satisfying and sustainable work and life approach - to the overwrought modern day norm.
