Wednesday, the 29th of September, 2004 (second entry today!)~
Dear Journal:
Hi! This is Johnny again. I felt like journaling some more, so here I am!
I had a good day today in school. I had a test in spelling, and I got 99 out of 100 possible points; only missed one word (Restaurant). DARN! I was hoping I would have gotten a perfect score; I am quite mad at myself for missing one word! Other than that, we still had a good day, and today, my friend, Jose', invited me over to his house on Friday for a sleepover. I hope I can go, and I hope that I don't get sick!
Speaking of sick, Ronee' the Monster is still down. She's missed two days of school, and she is miserable. Oh, she is starting to feel better (she is acting like a wounded tiger; she is getting grouchy!), but she hates, absolutely HATES, to miss school! Personally, I'd much rather stay home and play my video games, but school is my job right now, and I have to go so I can learn about the world and how to survive (that is, while I still CAN!). So I guess I am stuck. DARN it!
School also had a book fair today, and I got a few books (two by Beverly Cleary, one about Henry Huggins, the other about Otis Spoffard; they look pretty funny!, and also one by Gordon Korman, about football, but it's older kids; they're teenagers; that looks pretty funny too!). I also got to meet a children's author, Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, who wrote the "Shiloh" series about a dog in West Virginia, and she was nice. I got my picture taken with her, and it may go in the school paper. I also got her autograph, and she smiled when I told her that my sister, Ronee', had done a book, and I showed her my copy. She seemed impressed. I told her I wanted to write a book too, and she said that I could be able to do it if I wanted to. So I am going to try.) There were other authors there too, but I best remember Phyllis Reynolds Naylor because she was so nice to me.
After school, I was disappointed in not seeing mama at home; but daddy told her that she was working at the hospital until 11 tonight. I wish she were home; she has been working a lot of overtime lately, and I am sure she is very tired! I hate it when mama isn't home taking care of me or the other kids! I was also disappointed when daddy told me to keep it down because Ronee' the Monster was asleep. DARN! I HATE it when Ronee' the Monster is sick; we have to be quiet like little church mice, and I can't play with my toy HUMMER or my video games; instead, I have to read or QUIETLY watch tv! GRRRR!! STUPID Ronee' the Monster! She makes me MAD!
Next month is Hallowe'en, but we won't celebrate it. Instead, we will have a harvest celebration at our church, and we will have a party there and get to dress up (but no spooky or scary costumes). I am still thinking of going in as the Tin Man from "The Wizard of Oz". Last year, I was "The Cowardly Lion" (also from "The Wizard of Oz"), and I won a cool 50 bucks! I was amused...Ronee' is thinking of being a Grand Ole Opry singer. Pshhh..I know she'll win it this year; she always looks so nice when she has on her stage clothes and make up and has her hair styled: she looks like a little Loretta Lynn, and she SOUNDS a lot like her when she sings! If Ronee' the Monster wins the contest this year, I will be happy, but at the same time, I think I will have the better costume; so I am the one who deserves to win the 50 bucks!
Well, daddy is calling for us to eat (we are having enchiladas and quesidillas tonight; it's Mexican night), so I am going to eat. I am then going to play my video games until it's time for me to go to bed! Will write more tomorrow! See ya!
