Dear Louisiana:
I got your package in the mail today; thank you so much for writing to me, and thank you so much for sending me your book! Wow, what a beautiful family you have! So many children, yet, all so loved, and all so beautiful!
I never realized disabled people were so beautiful to look at, but I see the happy, smiling faces of your children, and I don't see their problems, even though they may be obvious! I only see children, and it moves me to tears! Thank you for answering my questions or concerns, and thank you for being my friend! I feel as though I have already known you, and I just met you via the Internet! Isn't it strange how life sometimes happens?
I am glancing at your book now, as I write this to you, and I can see the love and caring soul you have through your words. You must be something special to do something like what you have done! I don't think I could do it! Sure, I adopted two children from Korea, but I don't think I could adopt kids with disabilities! It would be too heartrending!
Thank you, too, for explaining to me about your problems, and also the problems that your husband faces. My, but he is sure tall! Just HOW tall IS your husband, Louisiana? He must be nearly 7' tall, judging from looking at the picture! And you are so tiny! You two sure do make an interesting couple! LOL (I bet that is interesting when you two go to bed..never mind, I had better hush while I am ahead, or I just may get myself into trouble here..forget I even said that! Oh, God, am I ever embarrassed! SHEEESH!! LOL)
You may be disabled, but you carry yourself so well! You aren't ashamed to admit the fact that you ARE physically disabled, and whenever I see your picture on the book, I see a courageous young woman who is proud of herself, and proud of her husband and family! You have your head screwed on straight, and you know so much about life! Me, I am just finding out about other cultures, other lands, through Nicholas and Nichole, and Peter is still having some problems with them. He just isn't used to not being the only child anymore, and he was always my baby; now he has competition, and I think this is why he is having so much trouble. But I am sure, with time, he will settle, and pretty soon, he, Nicholas, and Nichole will all be the best of friends! Lord, I hope so!...
I am working with Nichole and Nicholas, trying to teach them English; but it is hard! But I will not give up, and I know that they will soon learn! So far, they point to everything, demanding in Korean what things are, but I tell them, "No Korean. Only English.", and they look at me funny, as though I have horns growing out of my heads! It's very frustrating, but if you can do it, then, by God, so can I! How did YOU learn Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese, and all the other languages that your children spoke when they first arrived? How did they learn English, and was it hard for them?
How are your children doing in school? I hope they are doing well! Peter is in Pre-K, but he has been angry ever since Nicholas and Nichole arrived; and it has been a battle. How do you handle school-related problems? (I have a feeling that you can handle any and all problems! You are SUPERWOMAN! LOL)
I have been taking Nicholas and Nichole out whenever I go places, and so far, people have been receptive to the idea of my adopting two foreign-born kids; but there are some who give me strange looks, and it makes me uncomfortable. And my kids aren't even disabled! How do YOU handle people's reactions to your kids whenever you are out in public? I am having a hard time with this, and it is driving me NUTZ! I try to be positive about this whole thing, but I don't like it when people stare at me like we are apes in a zoo!
I can only imagine people's looks when they see a family like yours! WOW! I bet the tongues start wagging and the eyes start gravitating towards your family! I look at the pictures of you in your book, and you ARE an amazing sight! I never knew a family could be so....BIG. Or so...COLORFUL! You all look like you came from the RAINBOW! LOL
Well, Louisiana, I will hush for now. Nichole is crying; I think she must have fallen again and hit her head. I have to see if she is alright. I will write more again soon; again, thank you for your package, and thank you for your book! I will now have something to read before I fall asleep!
God bless you all, and thank you again for the package! I shall enjoy all that you sent!
(((HUGS))) and love, your friend in Arizona, Greta. :-D
