Barbara takes a turn to write her thoughts in the family's "fair diary" about the fair.
(Author's Note: I know better than to get on a ride like the Booster! The thing may KILL me if I try to ride it; can't handle those wild thrill machines like I used to, and I DO know my limits....LOL Barbara and Ronee' can HAVE the Booster; I DOOONN'T need it! LOL)
Fair time. Thrilling rides guaranteed to mess with a person's sense of balance (not to mention, stomach!) and cause smart-minded people's heads to swivel skyward as the rides swing or move in terrifying patterns. Junk food guaranteed to set one's mouth to watering like Niagara Falls. Games of chance that mostly ends with your spending precious, hard-earned money in the hopes of nabbing a big prize. Musical entertainment from big name stars or even up and coming local talent guaranteed to keep one's feet a tapping and hands a clapping. Balloons and brightly colored patterns to entice the fairgoer. Ah, yes, it's that time of year again: the State Fair is upon us, and we are right in the thick of the action!
This is Barbara Sandusky. I am in line, waiting to go on the Booster, a thrill ride that is one of the more terrifying ones at the fair this year. Of course, people are giving me weird looks as I type this on the laptop, but oh, the well...it passes the time away while I am waiting! I am a ride freak DELUXE: the more terrifying, or the more scary, the more I love 'em! I have ridden some of the wildest rides imaginable at both the fairs and amusement parks, and you know something? None of them haven't killed me yet; I am still alive and kickin'! LOL
We are riding the rides until 1:00 (geez, I hope I get my ride in on the Booster before I have to leave in a half hour to go back to the Picnic Pavilion, so I can meet my family for lunch!), and then after we eat, we can go back on the rides until 5, which is when we meet again at the Picnic Pavilion and eat supper before we see Alan Jackson, tonight's star attraction for the fair. Until then, I am waiting to ride the Booster, and the line is. too. freakin'. SLOW! I wish the people'd hurry up and move up instead of standing there, with their heads in their butts or not paying attention! GRRR!! I HATE waiting in long ride lines! (Too bad I am not in a wheelchair or on crutches like some of my disabled brothers or sisters: they, at least, don't have to WAIT in line; they can go right on up to the exit, and they immediately go onto the ride, no waiting required on their part! GRRR!! This was one time when I wish I were disabled or had a bum leg...NOT really, but I DO get a bit jealous...)
Whoops! Time to move on up; but still, not our time to go onto the Booster. Darn! A few more waits, and then I can go on! I can't wait because this waiting in line BITES! I am afraid I will turn moldy from waiting in line! LOL At least it isn't pouring down rain, and at least it isn't 1,000 degrees out! Today is partly sunny, with delightful temps, and I am having fun at the fair! Can't wait to go on the Booster, and can't wait to see Alan Jackson tonight! WHEE!!
Boy, I love the fair...and I love the anticipation of waiting to go on the Booster; that is probably the most exciting part! WHEE! C-ya; the line just moved up a bit; gettin' closer to that time, and then I will be ON the Booster, screaming my fool head off! WHEEEE!!!
~Barbara. :)

I do enjoy being able to get in at the disabled entrance, though it took me several years before I didn't feel like I was cheating.
