Johnny Sandusky writes a letter to Jenna and Michael Doucet, friends he met when he went to Alaska earlier in the year, after the pair wrote to him.
Friday, the 22nd of October, 2004-
Dear Jenna and Michael:
Hi! This is your pal, Johnny, writing! Thanks so much for writing to me; I just got home from school, and there was your letter waiting for me. It was sooo nice to hear from you both! I miss you guys like CRAZY!!
I am doing (fairly) well; I haven't had any more problems with my seizures ever since they put me on that new anti-seizure medication. I also haven't had too much problems with my breathing, but I wear oxygen, so that helps that. I also haven't really had any more problems with my muscular dystrophy acting up, but then again, I have days where I feel as though I can do just about anything without any problems whatsoever, and yet there are other days where I feel as weak as a kitten and it is all I can do to get out of bed! It is a day by day thing, and I hate not knowing how my day is going to be when I wake up in the morning!
I enjoyed the letter, and I loved the picture of the snowy owl you put on it. That was absolutely beautiful! Did you take the picture, or is it a painting that you did? If it IS a painting, I didn't know you were so talented at art! I can't draw my way out of a paper bag; my drawings look worse than preschool kids! I loved the books on Alaska that you sent; thanks so much! Now that I am not having as much trouble with my reading, it is a lot more enjoyable, and I don't find myself getting so frustrated as much!
I enjoyed the fair, but I didn't ride too many rides. Too trying on my stomach. I did get sick a few times, but I tried to stay busy by going to the exhibit halls or listen to the music shows. We saw Loretta Lynn, Toby Keith, Tanya Tucker, Alan Jackson, and Tiffany Evans (this 11-year-old girl who was on "Star Search" earlier this year; she was then ten). I got all their autographs, and I had my picture made with them all, too. They were all very nice! I also got to sit in a HUMMER, and man, I thought I was STYLIN'! I wanted to take that HUMMER home with me from the fair, but for some reason, daddy and mama wouldn't let me. They got mad!
The weather here has been pretty good, but last week we had storms. Some got to be pretty severe, but luckily, no damage, like we had earlier this year, back in June. No tornadoes, but we had a lot of high wind, and it ripped off our roof and damaged a wall or two. It was pretty scary, and we had to stay at a homeless shelter for a while; but some nice people from our church came and helped rebuild our house; and we went back just before the Fourth of July. We've been there since without any problems. We had a big ol' storm on July Fourth, but no damage; at least the storms were gone by the time the evening programs (and later, the fireworks) were to start! But Ronee' didn't get to perform her set, heee heee! LOL At least SHE didn't get all the attention, which is what usually happens when she sings! I hope the weather there has been good, and I hope you have seen some auroras! I love those things...
YES, I would LOVE to have some pictures of us that you took when we were in Alaska! That would be great! Thanks for thinking of me like that; you are too cool!
I wish we were closer to you; that way, we could see you anytime we want. But Alaska to Tennessee IS a very long way, and it would be a VERY long walk (or a RIDE, in my case!)! By the time I would get there to Alaska, my wheelchair would be no bigger than a PEANUT! LOL So I think the next time we go to Alaska we'll take a plane there! Or maybe a BOAT, like we did last time! That was too cool!
Well, Jenna and Michael, I have to go to the bathroom, so I will go now. I will write more later. Until then, this is Johnny saying take care! God bless you too! Miss you both a BUNCH! Come down here for Christmas; we would LOVE to see you guys!

The eagle is gorgeous and one morning we were driving to a favorite
lake in Virginia. It turned out to be a pair the state game warden was a little doubtful but then the majestic eagle flew over his head. I understand they are nesting. Very well written.
elements of humor shine in this adorable letter--got a big grin out of the lines, "...But Ronee' didn't get to perform her set, heee heee! LOL At least SHE didn't get all the attention, which usually happens when she sings!..." LOL
