Johnny writes in his journal. He writes about the upcoming Hallowe'en festival at his church and what he is going to be; and he writes about other things going through his mind.
Monday, October 25, 2004~

Dear Journal:

This is Johnny. I am sitting here, thinking about Sunday. Sunday is our church's annual Fall Festival (we don't really celebrate Hallowe'en at our church), and this year, I am going as a bottle of mustard, and my friend, Jose', is going to be a bottle of ketchup. Mama is making my costume; and I think I will make a very cute bottle of mustard! I hope we win the costume contest this year; if we do, we can win $100 in cash; and with Christmas coming up, that will certainly come in handy! (My birthday is coming up too; I will be 12 years old on the day AFTER Christmas!)

I am feeling pretty good today; am a little weak, but not too bad, to where I need a lot of extra help. It is more annoying than anything else; that is why my journal entries are short because I get tired by the end; and I have to stop, to let my muscles rest. At least I didn't have a seizure, and I didn't have any problems with my heart or breathing acting up! That is good news!

My sister, the Ronster, is back at school today. She was sick all weekend; she had a flare up of her arthritis. She has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (only SHE calls it "JRA"), and she didn't go to church yesterday morning. She slept most of the day. But she felt better to go to church last night, and she is now back at her school. She has been sick a lot lately; I hate it when she gets sick! She hasn't had much in the way with her asthma or her breathing, but still, she can have an attack when we least expect it, and I am always scared that she will have one where she is gasping for air and an ambulance will have to be called! That is never any fun; and it is even worse when it happens to ME! (No, I don't have asthma, thank goodness, but I DO have breathing problems sometimes, and my heart sometimes acts up and beats like a million miles an hour, and I can't get my breath; and I then have to have my heart shocked, to slow it down. That doesn't feel good....OW!)

I don't have any homework; maybe I will have some tonight. I hope if I do it isn't a lot; I want to go outside and play with Jose' or my brothers (play us some B-ball!) before it gets dark; it is October, so it gets dark before eight o'clock, which means we have to be in bed before nine on school nights. That is one reason why I like the weekends because I can SLEEP in on Saturdays (Sundays we are up with the sun because we have church, and we usually go out to eat at the Golden Corral for breakfast BEFORE we go to church!), and on Friday nights I can stay up as late as 11 or 12 if nothing major is planned. At least I don't have to get up early-early on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays, like Ronee' or Jodie; they have therapy then, and they have to be at the hospital BY seven for their therapy sessions! I have my therapy sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, but I don't go until after school, so I am late getting home. I have therapy tomorrow and again Thursday. Therapy is okay, but afterwards, I am always so worn out, and all I want to do is SLEEP!

The weather is partly cloudy and coolish out; not too bad, but we may get rain later tomorrow. I hope not; I HATE rain! I am always so bored when it rains, especially if it rains on a weekend, when I am out of school! GRR! I hope it doesn't rain on Sunday, for our Fall Festival at Christ Community Assembly of God! I don't want to be a wet bottle of ketchup; that'd be disGUSTing!

Well, I will go now; my muscles are getting tired and shaky, and it is getting hard for me to control my fingers as I type. I will write again another day when I am feeling a bit stronger. Until then, this is your pal, Johnny, saying CHEERIO!

~Love, your pal, Johnn-o. :)
