M'Buti writes in her journal, as a way to alleviate a slow day at work. She is bored, and the weather isn't helping.

Dear Journal~
Jambo! Habari gani? M'zuri sana, asante sana!
This is, if you haven't guessed by now, M'Buti Ayala Moore-Sormiento. I am so bored I am about ready to leap out of my skin! Today is a very slow day at work, and it is all I can do to keep from wanting to pull out my hair by the roots! Yet, I am trying to look busy, so Judy Peters, my boss, doesn't catch me goofing off. I don't want to chance on getting fired from my job~
The weather is ugly out, just a cloudy, nasty day. Not rain as of yet, but we may get some later. I can tell: my body is hurting, and I feel so run down and tired! My husband, Roberto, is at home, with the babies (Eshe' and Kibarake) and our cat, "Thika", and our oldest child, Jubaki, is in school; he will get out in about a half hour or so. Roberto will have to get him because I can't; I am at work!
I have been (fairly) well; but with the cooler weather, my allergies have been acting up. It seems my nose and head is always stuffed, and I just feel NASty! I have been having some problems with my low blood pressure, but the medicines I take help out. I also have to be careful not to overdo myself, or I will get tired and windy of breath; and I will have to use my oxygen again. I am taking it easy today: I am not using my walking frame today. I am using my wheeled chair, and I don't want to make myself any tireder than I already am!
I have heard from my friend, Miss Louisiana: she is doing well herself, but her kids keep HER busy, and she works gobs of hours, and it seems she is hardly ever home. She is always off, doing something, be it taking care of the kids or her husband, working at the hospital as a nurse, going from one place to another, or whatever! It seems she is always on the go, and she makes me tired just watching her! I don't know how she does it, especially since she is disabled herself and walks on a cane! Her daughter, Ronee', is back at school; she is finally over her sickness. She had a flareup of her arthritis, and she was in much pain; but she seems to be doing better now. Her son, Johnny, is also doing well; he hasn't had a seizure now in over a week, and he is looking forward to dressing up for Hallowe'en. They are having a Hallowe'en party at their church on Sunday, and they will all dress up. They will also be at the Hallowe'en party on Saturday, when the hospital employees will bring their families to the party, and there will be many people there, and we will have lots of fun.)
My children are dressing up for Hallowe'en: Jubaki is going to be a spider, and the twins are going to be little pumpkins. I made their costumes, and they will wear them when they go trick and treating on Friday. We will also be going to a Hallowe'en party at Roberto's work on Saturday, and I am going as a Maasai maiden (I will wear my shuka and put on my decorative jewelry that I hand-made while still in Kenya) while Roberto is going to be a Maasai warrior. (This ought to look interesting....LOL) I only hope we don't scare the babies; I don't want them to cry! I also hope we don't scare Jubaki! Last year, when we dressed up for Hallowe'en, I was a man while Roberto was a woman, and Jubaki cried, thinking we were total strangers! (We won the costume contest last year. We got something like $100.) But it is better than the year before: Roberto was the "KISS" guy (Gene something or other; I can't remember his last name, only he had wild, long black hair and a crazily painted up face; he looked like a devil or something; it was quite frightening, especially when he stuck his long tongue out!); I didn't dress up then because I was still quite sick and was still at home recovering. I had flesh-eating disease, and it took me a very long time to get over it. I nearly died, but God had other plans, and I am still here, thank goodness!
I heard from my brothers back in Kenya: Keserian is still working with his cattle, and Naiser is still working long hours at the clinic or hospital. I wish they were closer to me; I really do miss them, and I am lucky if I see them during the year!
Well, I know this isn't much, but I have to get back to work, or Judy, my boss, will get mad! I will write more later; this is M'Buti saying, Kwaheri!
I am so glad to hear from M'buti again, glad things are going okay for her...
