Johnny in Tennessee writes to his friend in California after she has emailed him.
Saturday, the 20th of November, 2004 (five days before Turkey Day!! :) )~
Dear Rebekkah~
Hi! This is your friend in Tennesee; thanks so much for writing! It is nice to hear from you again, and I am so happy that you want to be my friend, even though I happen to be in a chair! That really makes me feel good, you know that? I am glad you see me as a friend besides a kid in a wheelchair, which is how everyone else sees me; that really makes me mad!!
I am glad you like "Sue Thomas, Private Eye"! I love that show, too, but my favorite is probably "SpongeBob SquarePants". Oh, speaking of SBSP, we are seeing that movie later today; I can't wait!! The whole family's going (well, okay, MOST of the family is going!); and we are also going out to eat at Olive Garden, which is one of my favorite restaurants! I LOVE Italian food!! YUMMMM!! :P (*lickin' my chops here* LOL) We also may see "The Polar Express" again; Ronee' wants to see that again. She must be having "aurora borealis withdrawal" or something; she is CRAZY over the Northern Lights! Ever since we went to Alaska, and even beforehand, she has been nuts about the Northern Lights!! LOL I don't know what she likes more: the Northern Lights or her music; both are definitely TOPS in her life now! LOL
Mommy is feeling better; she is all over her flu, a little weak, maybe, but she definitely feels a lot better than she did. If she didn't we wouldn't be going out today; so maybe that is a good thing she is feeling better! Your letter really cheered her up; thanks for writing to her! And your mommy emailed my mommy; and she just wrote to your mommy; so your mommy "may have mail" in her email box! Tell her to see if she does, and then let me know! So your mommy's name is Naomi, like in Naomi Judd. Cool! It'd be funny if she sang or looked like Naomi Judd! I have always liked the Judds, but Reba is definitely #1 with me, while the Monster loves Loretta Lynn!
I am feeling good today; the medicine I am on for my seizures seems to be working because I haven't had any seizures in about three weeks (or longer). I am so happy about that; those stupid seizures sometimes come on with little warning, and they always leave me so tired afterwards! And it IS a little bothersome when I wake up and find myself in a hospital bed, with an IV in my arm; that really drives me nuts because one minute, I am home, playing, or am at school, and the next, I'm out like a light, and when I come to, I find myself in a HOSPITAL BED, doctors and nurses looking down at me! I'd love to get those times when I was out back; I get so confused after those stupid seizures! Having epilepsy is the PITS! Having MD is no picnic either, but I have my good days (like today; maybe I will crutch it today instead of using my wheels!), so that is okay. At least I can deal with it MOST of the time!!
My breathing is okay MOST of the time, but I still have to have my breathing treatments, and I still have to use my oxygen because I get so winded, and that is a giant pain in the REARRRRRRRRR too! (Johnny says, hissing like a mad cat!) That's probably the worst thing about having MD because it is starting to affect my breathing, and if I get sick, boy, do I ever get SICK!! And I usually have to go into the hospital because my stupid lungs really get hit HARD, and I just don't have the strength to fight off the cold or the flu; and I HATE, HATE, HATE it!! GRRRR!!
But I am not as bad off as a lot of people. There are people who have it so much worse than me. Just this morning, I couldn't sleep, and I was watching the Health Channel; and they had on this program about kids in hospitals, and they showed this one girl (a teenager, aged 15) who had cerebral palsy and was in a wheelchair (she reminded me a lot of my big sister, Jodie, who is 13) who had to have rods put into her spine because her back was curving due to scoliosis, and it was starting to cause her pain. Just the thought of it made my OWN back go into spasms, OW! OW! OW! They showed the surgery, which was interesting, but my back wasn't happy at the thought of it! OWW! They also had a little boy, aged three, who was born with a cleft palate, and he came from India or somewhere, to have the surgery; and the change in his face after the surgery was quite remarkable. He didn't look like the same little boy; it is amazing to think of what doctors can do for kids nowadays to help them! The show is called "Life's Little Miracles", and it is very interesting; I watch it regularly!
I am glad you like your teacher, Ms. Smythe. I would love to meet her (or your class, or better yet, you and your mommy and daddy!)! Do you think I could come out there to California sometime next year? I hope so!
Well, Reba, we are going to be leaving soon, so I will write more later or sometime tomorrow after we get back from church. Until then, thank you so much for writing, and thank you for wanting to be my friend! I will be more than happy to be yours! God bless you!

P.S.: Another show I really like is "AHHH! Real Monsters". I put a picture of the Gang on this letter; enjoy! My favorite one is "Ickis"; he reminds me a lot of my sister the Monster when she is panicking! LOL
