Santa Claus sends out his yearly email message to the hurting children of the world, as a way to lift up their sagging spirits.
North Pole, Wednesday, December 1, 2004~
Dear Precious Children~
Ho! Ho! Ho! This is your jolly old Christmastime friend in the North Pole, Santa Claus! I have been keeping tabs on you, and while some of you have been bad (which hurts me more than you will ever know), most of you have been good, very good; and it really pleases me. You will most certainly be getting some special surprises from me from when I come to your house come Christmas Eve, and I know you will be surprised beyond your imagination when you open your gifts and see what I have brought to you!
But there is a group of children whom I especially want to address this year. I know times are hard, what with the wars in the world going on (especially in Iraq), and there are many children there who have lost beloved family members or very good friends; and I am indeed sorry. I wish I could give you all peace or freedom from worry; but I am not God, only He can do that if you just take the time to pray to Him! He will bring peace; when, I don't know, but He WILL see that it happens! All you can do is learn to be patient and faithful! So my darling children over there in Iraq, I just want to say that I am thinking of you in your struggles, and I am praying for peace, too, just like you are! And I will try my very best to bring you some surprises from the North Pole that I know will make you smile!
I also want to talk to the children who have been hurt by poverty, divorce, abuse, or other familial-related problems. I am sorry you are struggling with these issues; children shouldn't have to endure things like the seperation from parents because of marital strife, or going to bed hungry and not having enough warm clothes to keep them warm on these swiftly approaching cold, wintry nights, or do without presents or even a Christmas tree! Children also shouldn't have to endure the pain from child abuse or alcoholism or drug abuse; how you can live in that environment is beyond me: I just don't understand why parents have children, only to abuse them or treat them badly! They are supposed to LOVE and CHERISH their children, not bring misery or pain to their young lives!
I am also writing to those special children who live with chronic conditions or disability each and every day. i wish I could erase all the pain and fear that your disabilities/illnesses bring to you; but I am not a doctor. I wish I was; I'd personally see to it that there were cures for diseases like cancer, muscular dystrophy, leukemia, AIDS, or other catastrophic childhood illnesses, and I'd make sure that the blind could see, the lame could walk without the use of crutches or not have to use wheelchairs, the deaf or hard of hearing would be able to enjoy the sounds that we hearing people often take for granted, or those who cannot speak would be able to tell their parents that they loved them! Oh, if I could only do that for these sweet, precious little ones: it would be a much happier place! But as I said earlier, I am NOT God, and it is only HE that can do miracles like making the blind see, the deaf hear, or the mute speak, or the lame walk. But I can still bring you whatever it is you request for Christmas, be it a baby brother, a kitty or puppy, a toy car or a dolly that opens its eyes and says "Mama", or even a computer if that is what you want! Just tell me in your own special way what you want for Christmas, and I will personally see to it that I and my helpers will get it to you on Christmas morning!
In addition, I want to talk to those little ones who have been changed by tragedy or the deaths of loved ones. I know it is never easy to lose loved ones or friends, and I know it is especially hard around holidays like Christmas, but I want to let you know that I, Santa, am thinking of you too this year. I wish I could bring your mommy, daddy, grandpa, grandma, brother, sister, cousin, aunt, or uncle (or even friends) back, but they are with Jesus now, and He MUST have a reason for wanting them there! I wish I could let you see them, but the truth is I can't. I can bring you hope and joy in the form of pictures or letters from your loved ones, and I CAN bring you the happy memories that you shared. I know those who lost family members to unbelievable tragedies like September 11, 2001, are having an especially difficult time. I was shocked to learn of the horror and carnage that occurred that day, and I am so sorry that you had to lose loved ones in such a dispicable, horrifying way! I can try my best to bring you some comfort or closure over what happened, and if I could, I would personally see to it that you'd be allowed to see your loved ones again! I sincerely mean that, and I would do anything in my power to erase the hurtful and painful memories away!
I am getting ready to visit you all in a couple of weeks; and it seems hard to believe that it will be Christmas in just 24 days! But I wanted to let you know that I am keeping watch over you here in the Frozen Land that is the North Pole, and my helpers are busily working on the toys and other goodies to load up on my sleigh; and my reindeer are getting their daily exercise, to get into shape for the Long Journey! I wish I could just come and give each and every one of you a hug or kiss, just to let you know that I love you all very much, but since I can't, I am writing to you, to let you know that I care for each and every one of you!
So, until I make my Journey, you all take care of yourselves, and remember to be good and tell your families that you love them; and do whatever it is that they ask! Also be nice to your friends, and try to work hard at not to get into mischief! Also do your schoolwork, and do the best job you possibly can! I believe in you, and I know your families do too! God bless each and every one of you, and until then, this is Santa sending you Christmas Love from the North Pole!
