The man who was known for his once-nasty disposition decides to help a special little boy, just in time for Christmas.
I still can't seem to get that little boy I met a few weeks ago out of my head. I see him clear as day in the recesses of my mind; and I can't help but want to help him (or others like him).

My name is Joe. Never mind my last name; I don't want to be accosted by my (former) co-workers or my family, for fear that great harm will come to me; but let's just say that ever since I met this little boy sitting in a wheelchair, my life definitely hasn't been the same.

I am a well-to-do person: I have my own house, my own yacht, and I have enough money to choke a horse; yet, inside (and on the outside), I wasn't feeling anything but cranky. If it wasn't business-oriented, life didn't interest me, and my business was my world. I only cared about money, and the more I had, the more important it was for me and my happiness. But it took a special little boy sitting in a wheelchair that was too large for his tiny size to bring me back to Earth, and in his special, silent, wordless way, he showed me that there were more important things in life; and he opened up my heart in a way that I could have never imagined. I ended up giving him a large amount of money ($100) to the Salvation Army that he was ringing the bell for, and somehow this made me feel good. He looked up at me with such innocence and trust on his small, pale face, and for a minute, I thought that he was going to cry. He had some sort of terminal disease, and it was evident just by looking at him just how sick the little guy was. He was on oxygen, and dark circles surrounded his large, bright-blue eyes. Yet when he smiled, his entire face lit up, like a beacon, and it warmed my heart to see a child who was suffering helping other people who were worse off than he was.

Ever since I met this little guy, I have been sending money to charity groups, and I have been buying toys to give to the poor or less fortunate children of our community, and I have been finding myself being nicer to people. I even started going to church, and last week, I went up to the altar, where I gave my heart to the Lord. I have been a new person ever since, and the change in me has been nothing short of incredible and extraordinary.

Now my next order of business is finding out the name of this little boy because I want to give him and his family a Christmas that they will never forget!

(To be continued.)

Change is hard, to go against a person's grain and do an about-face sometimes takes a miracle. I can't wait to read what happens next. A great tale.
