Louisiana is all excited: her hometown in Central Tennessee is expecting some snowy weather tonight, just in time for Christmas.
I am listening to the weather radio as I sit here at work (I am fixin' to get off in a half hour; just got everything done), and it appears that some hazardous winter weather is headed in our general direction. We are currently under a flood warning (and I believe it too; it is raining buckets out, and the roads are nothing but a mass of puddles, plus there are puddles of water standing in the grassy surfaces), but later tonight, as the temperatures get colder, we are due for some significant wintery precipitation. We will be put under a winter storm WARNING later tonight, which means that winter weather is innement, and we may get upwards to five inches of SNOW by tomorrow!
Of course, the kids are probably excited (or else they don't know; they are probably playing, or watching their favorite Nickolodeon shows on tv, or else they may be sleeping!), and I am sure that by this time tomorrow they will be outside, playing IN the snow. I AM off work tomorrow through Friday, but I have to work Christmas Day and the day after; so I won't have to go out in the lousy weather. Which is a good thing, really, because if I fall, I could hurt myself if I am not careful! We may even get a mixture of sleet and freezing rain in with the snow, and roads will no doubt become quite treacherous, and I don't plan on going anywhere for the next few days. If I do, it is only for emergency trips, such as to the store for groceries, or to the pharmacy's, or run kids to their therapy appointments. Now, my husband, he is scheduled to work until Friday afternoon, when the stores will close early, and he is off Christmas Day and works the day AFTER Christmas, so I will be worrying about him until I see his Bug come into our driveway and see his long, lanky frame peeling itself from the snug confines of his car. I only hope he doesn't fall because he is on crutches, and I don't want him injuring himself. He already has enough pain as it is, plus he has a bad back; and falling down would NOT be good for him AT all!
I will have to remind the kids of the upcoming winter time event; but as I gaze outside at the heavy rain that is falling, it doesn't appear that we will get any snow; but the weather forecasters are predicting snow for our area later, and we may get as much as five inches.
I'll believe it when I see it as I rise the next morning. If there is snow, I'll be surprised. We really don't get a lot of snow here, but when it DOES snow, it oftentimes catches people off guard, and there are numerous accidents due to people's stupidity on the road (they don't know well enough to slow down when wintery weather is occuring), and some of the accidents can be pretty serious. I am just glad that I am off work after today (that is, until Christmas Day!), but I'll be worrying my head over Bill and my daughter, Stephanie, who is already at work at HER job at the Golden Corral! Until I see them walk into the front foyer of our house, I won't stop worrying because I don't like them going out in this type of weather! So much can happen, and I don't want anything to happen to any of my family!
Despite the drawbacks of wintery weather, I still enjoy the feel of tiny flakes caressing my cheeks, and I love the coldness of the wind as it whips my hair about, and enjoy the sound of the crunching snow. I also love the smell of freshly falling snow, and I love the squeals of joy from happy, excited kids (or even adults) as they partake in wintertime activities and enjoy the benefits of a good snow. Snow makes people feel good, and it gives the air such a Christmasy feel. Now, it appears that we WILL have a white Christmas, and they say there may be more snow in the coming days. That would be great, and I consider it to be the perfect Christmas Gift from a Loving Father up Above!
The story came to be thanks to the winter type weather WE are currently having here in Northcentral Texas. We are having light snow fall, and we may get as much as one to three INCHES of the white stuff. We are under a snow advisory here in North Texas! :D

Alas, we aren't the ONLY ones experiencing winter's wrath: my old stompin' grounds in Ohio (Ontario/Mansfield, where my parents still reside) is under a *WINTER STORM WARNING*, and they may get as much as a FOOT of snow! I bet my step mother is loving it; she is a wintertime fan!
Finally got snow a night and a day here in Houston and Galveston. It was light on the grass, roofs, and cars. Then went away as quickly. I quess it will be another ten years or so, next time. Thanks for sharing this wonderful writing with us.
I can relate to this write, b.c south Mississippi is expecting snow flurries, none sticking but at least it will be in the air. Hope everyone is having a great Christmas Eve!
