Ronee' is in a good mood: she is trying out for a chance to appear on television, and she is excited. Yet, at the same time, she is sad, as she is missing her mother, who is now on a plane, on her way to Sri Lanka, where she will be helping out tsunami victims for a week. She and her mother are extremely close and always have been.

Dear Journal~

I sit here today, in study hall, waiting for the lunch bell, and I thought I would write in my journal while I am waiting. In the meantime, I am feeling a combination of emotions: I am happy (later tonight I am going to try out for a chance to appear on the show "America's Most Talented Kids"), yet, inside, I am also sad and lonely coz my maman is now in Sri Lanka. She left just this morning before I got up to go to my therapy session, and I didn't get to say goodbye. I have been on the verge of tears ever since, and my mind is a tangled mess right now.

This is Ronee', in case you haven't guessed. I am now in school, and I am trying to keep my mind busy by not thinking about maman, but I can't help it. I think of her, and my eyes fill with tears. I am also excited about tonight, yet I am scared to death. What if I mess up yet again? What if I don't make it? What if the AMTK people don't like me or how I sing? I know all I can do is go out there and do the best possible job, but at the same time, I am scared of flubbing up, and I want to try out for this so bad it isn't funny! I know I probably won't win, but just to BE on that show is a chance of a lifetime, and I think it may help jumpstart my career as a singer!

I just wish that my maman could be there for me; but she is doing something that God told her to do; and when He speaks, you'd best listen! I know she is doing a great thing by helping out those people who were affected so badly by the tsunami, and I am glad for her, but I wish she could have come to my audition! She has always supported me in the past; but all I can do is be happy that she is helping people in need, and still try to go to my audition and do my best. She IS probably with me in spirit, and all I can do is make her proud, as though she WERE there in person! And daddy will be there, as will my brothers and sisters, so it's not like I am going all by myself! At least I have the support of my family!

And I don't have to worry about the song I am singing: I already know what I am singing for the auditions. I am singing, "A Moment Like This", which was made famous by the first "American Idol" winner, Kelly Clarkson, whom I LOVE! She is from Texas, and she can really sing! She is also very sweet! I saw her here in Nashville, when the "American Idol" cast came, and she was a sweetheart! So were all the others! But Kelly was probably the nicest one of all of them!

I just hope that I don't forget the words to "A Moment Like This"! That'd be my luck! LOL I was going to do "Coal Miner's Daughter" by Loretta Lynn, but then I got to thinking about the audition, and what more appropriate song to sing at the audition than "A Moment Like This"? It could be "My Moment", ya know?? All I can do is give it my best shot and cross my fingers; and hope that I made it (plus do an awful lot of praying in the meantime!)! If I don't make it, oh, well...there's always next time! But I am sure going to give it my best shot! That's all I can do, ya know??

Whoops! There goes the lunch bell (plus my tummy is doing an awful lot of talking!); so I will go now. I will write more later after my audition; hopefully I will know something then! Until then, no news is good news, and all I can do is do my best and hope that I can make it to "America's Most Talented Kids"! C ya later, alligator! Bye!

~luv, your (slightly nervous) friend, Ronee' Le-Anne. :)

Karen, I love the wqy you took us through Ronnee working out how to get by without her mom when auditioning. Also, the inspiration of why her mom went to Sri Lanka. This is a beautiful uplifting story with a very wonderful message. Brava Karen!
