Dear Rebekkah~
Hi! Thanks for writing; it is always great to hear from you again!
I am sorry if my last letter sounded a little bit "braggy", but I was so excited about making it to "America's Most Talented Kids", and I guess it sorta' went to my head. Then I was bragging about my trying out for "American Idol" last year, and maman saw what I had written, and she got really mad at me. (She checks my mail before I send it if I am home; at school, I have no say in the matter!) She told me to cool it or I wasn't going onto "AMTK" at all! YIKES! Now I am sitting here, feeling a bit remorseful, and I am sorry if I sounded like a braggart to you! Please do forgive me....
I need to realize that singing isn't everything; I need to focus on God and my family first over singing...my mom had a long, good talk with me yesterday about my bragging, and I (sorta') feel better, yet I feel (sorta') embarrassed about my 'tude! I was so stupid! (Guess I need to study Loretta Lynn some more; she isn't braggy when it comes to her singing or her fans, and I need to set an example after her...I don't want to be cocky in my 'tude; there are too many in the biz already! And I DON'T need to become another one!!)
I did watch that show, "American Idol", with the bad auditions, and it was too funny! Some of those singers were so bad it wasn't funny; and it was sooooo hard NOT to laugh! But it WAS nice to have maman home; I really missed her! But it does seem funny to see her walking on crutches; now she looks a bit like me! She has sciatic nerve problems and back problems, and whenever it/they act up, she has severe pain running down both legs, and it...well, HURTS. She could get it fixed by having surgery, but the truth of the matter is this: she was paralyzed once--she fell out of a tree when she was a little kid back in Louisiana, and she couldn't walk without leg braces or forearm crutches for a few years after that--, and she is afraid that if she has the surgery, she will end up paralyzed again, and she doesn't want to spend the rest of her time sitting in a wheelchair. I can very easily understand her fears, but it would be nice not to see her suffering in so much pain like she does! Please keep my maman in your prayers, okay?? She could really use 'em! Thanks!!
Has the weather finally quieted down there in Cali? Here it is raining to beat the band, and Lord, I know it...my body doesn't have to tell me that it is raining coz it is HURTING strongly today! *OW!* Guess I won't be doing the moonwalk today or take a stab at breakdancing (not that I ever COULD, mind you)....(Could you just see me trying to break dance? I'd break everything I have and then some; no WONDER they call it "BREAK dancing"! LOL)
I got some more music CD's yesterday: Jake Simpson and Freedom Brenner from "Star Search", and I listened to both of their CD's last night. He (Jake Simpson) sounds so much like Stevie Wonder it's UNREAL!! (No, he doesn't look ANYTHING like him--LOL--, but he sure can sing just LIKE him!!) I also love Freedom Brenner: not only his name, but how he looks, and how he sings. Both he and Jake Simpson are consumate showmen, and they both really know how to work an audience, from what I have seen them do on "Star Search"!
Did you see any of the Inaugural? We did; we watched it just about all day, and it was very interesting, to say the least! I am glad nothing happened to upset the festivities, and I am glad that President Bush is officially president for a second time! No, I didn't vote for him (TOO young!), but if I COULD have voted, I would have voted for him in a heartbeat. My parents voted for him, and they just felt that he would have made the better leader over the competition, judging from the campaigns last year. (I watched the candidates speak last yaer, and I liked what Bush had to say more.) We didn't have school yesterday because of the Inaugural (plus it was an "in-service" day), but now we are back at school today, and Monday is a regular week. (We had two days off school this week, yesterday for the Inaugural, and Monday, for Martin Luther King Day.)

Another one I liked on "Star Search" was the Grand Champion Junior Vocalist, little Mark Mejia (whose picture I put on this letter here; isn't he cute??). He sang his way past all who challenged him, and he deserved to win. He is a energetic little guy, and he has some killer pipes to make up for his lack of size. If he ever gets a CD out, I plan on buying it! He's GREAT!! :)
