Dear Journal~
I am sitting here, holed up in my room, trying to stir up some needed excitment in my life; but nothing, not even my remote-control HUMMER, interests me. Either I am a.) extremely, excruciatingly bored beyond tears, or b.) I must be coming down with something (ha ha; hope it is the former instead of the latter!).
I am home from school because the weather people are calling for our area to have a winter storm, and the nasty weather could start as late as sometime tonight. The weather people are calling for upwards to five inches of snow, and there could be sleet or freezing rain mixed along with the heavy snow. GREAT. So we got out early as a precaution. Iin addition, there could even be a possibility of thunder or lightning. WHEE! :)
Yesterday, my sister, Ronee', came home early from HER school because her school had a gas leak, and it was making some people sick. Thankfully, Ronee' didn't get sick, but she does have asthma, and the gas smell was causing her asthma to act up somewhat. She is still at school as I write this, which gives me a little break (ha ha!). She and I have been arguing a lot lately, and she's been something of a pain in the rear, if you know what I mean. She is going to Hollywood later this month to tape a segment of the show, "America's Most Talented Kids", and ever since, she found out that she was to be one of the kids chosen to be on the show, she has acted like a bit of a brat. She has been driving us crazy, and sometimes I wish she were never my sister! Now, I know I am being mean here when I say this, but at times, it is the honest to gosh truth! She needs an attitude adjustment...a BIG one! I will be sooo glad when this "America's Most Talented Kids" stuff will be overwith!
I get jealous of Ronee'. It seems like she gets all the glory, because she is so talented in music and/or in singing (and in just about everything else, it seems!), and it is always "Ronee' this" and "Ronee' that", and it drives me BONKERS!! It's like none of the other kids matter because Ronee' is the "family star", and it really makes me MAD!!
I also get mad because I don't get nearly enough in the way of attention like the Monster does, and I get jealous, really jealous. I wish I could say that I have my own band or that I have sung on national tv more than once (Ronee' has been on "Star Search", "Maury", and is soon to be on "America's Most Talented Kids"!) the way Ronee' has. I wish I could say that big-time stars are interested in me like they are in my sister, or the fact that she has three CD's out while I have none! She also has a book to her credit while I, Johnathon Irwin-Allen Denver Sandusky, have SQUAT! All I seem to be good at is for people to feel sorry for because I have M.D. and usually the very first thing people notice about me when they first lay their peepers on me is either my stupid wheelchair, the stupid braces on my legs, or the stupid oxygen tubing I wear in my nose! It is getting to be way past annoying, and I wish people would see me for ME, NOT just my stupid disabilities!
School was going okay today, but then Principal Max came on the horn and said that they were closing the school early as we were expecting a snowstorm sometime tonight, and depending on what the weather did, school may be closed tomorrow. Oh, goodie. More time to be bored. Whee! At least I get to eat lunch in a bit (but then I have to take my disgusting pills afterwards and have my stupid breathing treatment for my lungers!), so I won't be starving by the time suppertime rolls around!
We left by ten-thirty, and I got to my house about 10:45, fifteen minutes later. I have been home since then, trying to stir up some excitement. About the only excitement I have stirred up so far was to have my dad help me with my toilet and change my catheter bag, so I wouldn't spring a lead (HA). I also have to eat and take my pills, and now I am waiting for my lunch to be made; in the meantime, I am poring away over the computer keys, typing in this pitiful excuse for a journal. What a glamorous, exciting life I lead, hunh? (NOT!) Such as life when you are in my shoes..and I wouldn't want to wish this stuff on ANYONE! Having problems like mine really STINKS at times because I used to be able to do a lot more than I am able to now, and now I need help; and it is really embarrassing at times! I feel like a big, overgrown baby at times, and unfortunately, life isn't going to get any easier for me down the road.
If anything, things are just going to get worse. Oh, goodie. More stuff to worry about (if I don't already have more than enough to fret about nowadays!)!
Well, I gotta' eat and so I gotta' scoot. I will write more later if my computer behaves itself; seems it has been running a bit on the slow side today. So we will see what happens later; if it is working, I will write; if not, I will have to find something else to amuse my little bored self! So I am about to hit the dusty trail for now; see you later alligator!
~Love, your pal, Johnny. :)

Poor Johnny. Sounds like he needs a serious hobby! Good one, Karen!
An excellent write--today's kids are too easily bored. Back in the day LOL, when we were young(er) LOL, we'd entertain ourselves for HOURS reading a book, getting out in the yard and exploring, playing games, creating new games, joining the neighborhood baseball games (usually in our yard!)...we didn't have to watch TV or play video games to be entertained--we'd make our own fun!
