Dear Louie~
Hey, it was so nice to hear from you again! Thanks for writing me back; I was just starting to wonder about you...
I am sorry to hear that you aren't doing too well with your back and that you are facing the prospect of surgery...that is horrible news! I pray that you come through this without any complications whatsoever, and you can surely bet that both Michael and I will be lifting you up in prayer, even though you know we aren't really "religious" people. But you have shown me that prayer does work, so it couldn't hurt, right?? Please let me know if you need anything, and also, do you want us to come down there? We would gladly jump at the chance to help you out if the need arises; you have been so good to Michael and myself; now it is our turn to reciprocate!
How is the weather there in Tennessee? Here it is cold, highs in the teens, lows below zero at night. Typically Alaskan weather. Sure hope we have a more normal year in terms of temps or weather; last year was one of the warmest on record for us! I just can't handle the heat, I am Inuk, after all! I am not built for that kind of extreme heat! For us, 65 degrees is considered to be a "heatwave"!
We had a minor quake today; no damage, thank goodness, but enough to feel it. It was really weird; I pray we never have a big one, like they did way back in 1964, when a powerful quake hit Anchorage. Have you ever been in an earthquake? They are quite common here in Alaska, and we are rather used to it unless it is a big one...
I am happy to know that your friends in Finland are doing well, but I was sorry to hear about Sikik's mother dying. That is so sad! I haven't heard from her either, and that is so unlike her! I think I will give her a call after I am done writing to you, just to let her know that I am thinking of her and to offer her my sympathies about the death of her mother.
I hope you get to go to Greece for Nikolas and Sari's wedding. It's just too bad you didn't get to go during the Olympics last year; that would have been something to see! I know Sari and Nikolas went; and I am happy that they got you some souvenirs and some of the athletes' autographs for the kids! How exciting! Hopefully you will be feeling much better by the time you and Bill go to Greece for Nikolas and Sari's wedding!
How are Johnny and Ronee' doing? Are they still fighting, or are they finally managing to work out their differences? I pray that they make up; it is always so hard whenever kids fight. I know I hated fighting with my sister, Jerrica! I couldn't hear her shouting at me, of course, but I could tell by her signs and the ugly expressions on her face that she was mad at me, and it hurt, it really hurt! Tell Johnny and Ronee' to drop me a line; I would really love to hear from them again! I hope they are doing well healthwise, and I hope that they make up from their argument!
Has Ronee' gone to Hollywood yet, or is that later this month? I hope she does well on her show! I shall have to look for it over the summer! Tell her I wish her all the best, and tell her that I know she will do well! She is such a super kid!
The auroras only come out occasionally now; but in the coming weeks, they shall become more frequent. When they do, I will be sure to take more pictures for you to enjoy.
Michael is still working at his bartending, he still loves it, and it helps us out financially. I also still get my disability pay, but I wish I could work; I miss working at the bank, and I miss my bank friends! They do call or send me cards on occasion, to let me know that they are thinking of me, which is nice, but I still miss going to work each day. I have my good days and my bad days when it comes to my arm or leg; it is so frustrating to use only one arm or hand, and it is equally frustrating arguing with the stupid brace and crutch! I have fallen several times, and the last time I fell, I blacked my cheek pretty good. I thought I fractured it, but I just banged it really good; I had a very bad bruise on my face, and I looked horrible! I was so ashamed to go out in public, for fear people were thinking that my husband was hitting me! It was so embarrassing! Thankfully, my face has healed; and the bruise is just about gone.
Well, dear Louisiana, I will go now. Time for a potty break (that is a bit more information than you really needed to know, isn't it? LOL)! Until I hear from you again, you take care, and many blessings to you and your beautiful Northern Lights family! Love you and miss you like crazy...please come back to Alaska soon! We'd be more than happy to put you guys up!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Alaska, Jenna Aurora. :)
P.S.: I loved the picture of the willow ptarmigan you put on your last letter! We saw one the other day; you could barely see him because he blended in with the snow. All you could see was his black, beady eyes! We also had an arctic fox in our yard; he got the ptarmigan. Guess he was hungry...still, it makes me sad to see bigger animals eating smaller, weaker ones...
Another wonderful write Karen as you always create
God Bless
Michelle!

I could have done without the last part there though. "(a bit more information than I needed to know)" LOL : )
Enjoyable story. Halfway through I started realizing that whether we are Inuk's or people from Tennessee, we share a world, with the power of nature, with our families, and our friends. Both near and far away. Thank you...
