Hi! I was so happy to hear from you again; thanks so much for writing!
It sounds like you and the girls are all doing well; and it seems that Anna Grace is doing wonderful in school! I am so happy she has adjusted to being a member of your family; she is such a sweetie! Almost ten now...geez, where does the time go?? It seems like only yesterday when Bill and I only had Johnny and Ronee', and they were both little babies; now they are both twelve years old, and they are growing up so fast! They are no longer the little kids they once were; they are looking more and more like teenagers every day..and ACTING like them! I wish I could keep them both six or seven years old forever; they were both so adorable back then...*sighhhhhh* And the youngest one, Kwame', is now five and in kindergarten; he is such a smart little boy, and he just loves school!
I am happy you are thinking of adopting that little girl from Japan; but a baby from Sri Lanka would be nice, too. We have already started the proceedings in adopting the two little ones I met while I was in Sri Lanka, baby Arjun Ravi, who is now nearing the age of eight months of age, and five-year-old Rani, who is still receiving therapies after she came out of a lengthy coma. Doctor say she is progressing well, as well as can be expected, but she still may face the possibility of disability. I don't care; as long as she has a home or a family she can call her very own, that is the most important thing for her right now. I pray and hope that all goes well and that we get both Arjun and Rani; be praying for us, okay?? Thanks!
It seems funny how things happen, isn't it? A few months ago, Bill and I wouldn't have even DREAMED of adding some more kids to the family; we already have a VILLAGE now with our *FIFTY* Miracle Children; now we are fixin' to adopt TWO more! But we can't imagine our world or our lives without any of our children, and they have grown and flourished beautifully under our love and guidance! We are both looking forward to the time to when little Arjun and Rani come to our family from Sri Lanka, and we have already claimed them as our own children, even though they aren't with us physically; and we are already counting down to the day when they will join us!
You ought to see Jodie now: she is talking up a blue streak, and she is turning into a beautiful young lady! She will be fourteen in July, and every day she learns new ways to express herself; and she is proving to be quite the intelligent young lady! She never ceases to amaze us, and she has such a happy, vibrant personality! You also ought to see Jo-El, who is now seven: he has adjusted to life as a severely disabled youngster with the makings of a champion, and nothing ever daunts him. Between his scheduled surgeries and hospitalizations, he is all boy, and he is so active it exhausts us just to watch him! Just the other day he got into trouble when we caught him swinging on the shower rack, and he ended up breaking it. Oh, well..he's just a typical little boy, and if he is going to look for mischief, such antics like the above are to be expected! Still, he did get into trouble; and now he has to learn from his transgression! LOL
I will be sending you a subscription blank from Adoptive Families magazine; we get this magazine every month, and we always learn from the insightful articles and stories they feature in there. I hope you consider subscribing; you won't be sorry! In the latest issue, they had articles about how to get your child to sleep during the night as well as a very informative and eye-opening article about raising or adopting children with special health needs; and it was really interesting. They also had an article about this movie that is coming out, "Because of Winn Dixie", and so far, all I have heard about the movie has been positive; so I am thinking of taking the children to see the movie when it comes out. I kind of would like to see it myself. It is based on a children's book, and the editors have been raving about this book; so I just may have to check it out myself and see what all the hoopla is all about.
Thank you for the prayers regarding my upcoming surgery. I know I shouldn't worry, but I am a bit of a worrywart, and it HAS been a while since I last had surgery; but all I need to do is put my fears at the Foot of the Cross and let God take care of things. I guess I have always been something of a worrier; I guess it's because I am afraid something "will go wrong" during the surgery, and I will end up in worse shape than I already am; but of course, I am just being silly now, aren't I? LOL Your prayers--and the prayers of everyone else--will certainly put my fears at ease; so I thank you for the prayers!
The weather here is sunny and pleasant; but I am at work; waiting for Amina Haddad to come out of surgery. Amina is this woman from Iraq who was badly injured (burned) by a bomb; and she was getting some skin grafting and scar releases performed. I am waiting for the news now to tell me that she is now in Recovery; in the meantime, I thought I would email you after I saw and read your letter in my email box. I will be getting off about 1:00 or 1:30 today; and I will be back at work at 9:00 Monday morning. I hope and pray that Amina survives the surgery; she has suffered so much! (Amina does speak a LITTLE English, but not much, so we have our Iraqi-born nurse, Fariqa, helping her so we can communicate better. Fariqa is acting as translator, if you will, since my knowledge of Arabic is nearly nil.)
Whoopsie! I think Amina must be in the Recovery Room: I hear Dr. Tadashi and Fariqa's voices outside my doorway, so I best go and check in on her. I will write more later; until then, you take care of those beautiful daughters of yours, and God bless you all always! Tell Louisa I will write to her shortly, and tell her (and your kids) howdy from Tennessee!
