M'Buti is not feeling too well at the present time: she is on a cruise ship, and it is NOT smooth sailing for her. This is her first entry into the family's series of cruise diaries, as a way to document their trip.
Tuesday evening, on the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico, heading towards Cozumel, Mexico...written on 8 March, 2005~
Ugh! I don't think I shall ever be so glad to see land...I am feeling pretty bad now. We are on the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico, heading towards one of our destinations, Cozumel, in Mexico. We started sailing yesterday from Galveston, Texas, and it has not been easy for me. I am so sick it is a wonder I can keep ANYTHING down, and I just feel *NASty*! I am so dizzy I can't sit up without wanting to throw up, and it is all I can do to keep from losing it yet again!
This is M'Buti, and I am supposed to be enjoying myself on this trip, but so far, I have not had an easy time of it. My husband is worried about me; he is afraid that I will have to go to the infirmary if something doesn't settle my upset stomach or my dizziness. But Jubaki, our oldest child, isn't worried about me (gee, THANKS, son!); he is more concerned in getting to Cozumel, Mexico, where he then can go swimming or running around on the beach! He is also looking forward to going back to "Camp Carnival", which is a special event they have for the children on the cruise: they sing songs, make crafts, and play games, and he has had a wonderful time. He also has a new friend in the Carnival Cruise's official "mascot", "Friendship Freddie", who looks like a laughing tailfin. :) He really enjoyed meeting "Friendship Freddie", and he is looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow.
My husband, meanwhile, is enjoying himself by playing in the casino (he has already lost some money; if he isn't careful we won't have anything for our trip, and we will have to spend the rest of our time on this ship, trying to make up for all the money he lost in the casino!! We will have to LIVE on the ship, and I don't think my sensitive stomach can handle it now!), and he has already checked out the weight room and the spa; he is going to take advantage of this vacation by utilizing as many of the ship's facilities as he possibly can!
According to our captain, we should be in Cozumel, Mexico, sometime tomorrow morning. Good! I can't handle the rocking motions of the boat much longer; I thought you weren't SUPPOSED to feel any motion on a big ship like the Ecstasy! But I have felt every roll, every wave, and I am sicker than a pregnant lion! UGH! I will be SOOO glad when we set our feet on dry land; I can't take much more of this queasy feeling, and I am so dizzy I can't sit up without falling right over!
I will write more; I have to throw up again....UCH!
You do know how to keep your readers coming back for more - excellent my friend!!
Blessings,
Robert

Complain. Bitch. Snivel. QUIT THAT!! LOL Actually, I quite understand that feeling, there is nothing in the world like being on a boat and being seasick. Nothing. When you are that way, try to ear crackers. Make yourself do it. It is the soda in them which helps calm your stomach. I know. I know. Eating anything is a no-no, but force it. It heelps.
I feel for M'Buti (A name from your fertile mind?) We were on a luxury liner converted to a troop carrier during WW11. I never saw so many sea sick guys in all my life. I don't know why the trip didn't bother me. I hope her vacation turns out better from here on in.
