Johnny is getting excited: in just a few short weeks he and his sister, Barbara, are flying out to Alaska for a week. He also writes about the possibility of stormy weather visiting the Nashville, Tennessee, area later on.
Tuesday, the 22nd of March, 2005, 10:35 a.m., C.S.T.~
Dear Journal~
Hi! This is your pal, Johnny, writing. I am getting excited; in just a few short weeks, Barbara, my older sister, and myself will be flying out to Barrow, Alaska, where we will spend a week with our friend, Sikik Grace Eegeesiak (I STILL have trouble with her name! LOL). I am especially looking forward to meeting Sikik's family, but at the same time, I am nervous. What if they don't speak English, and what if I have to eat some seal meat or whale blubber? That doesn't sound too good, and it makes my tummy turn to jello every time I think of it. UGH!
I am doing pretty good today, but later on, things could get pretty interesting in the weather department. The weather forecasters are calling for possible severe storms later, including a chance of tornadoes. I hope not, I don't really relish the thought of a tornado smacking our house and ripping it to pieces! I pray we get through the wicked weather later on; but you can bet one thing: I will have my eyes glued to the tv screen to get the latest radar imagery of the storms, and I will have my ear glued to my weather radio...just as long as the durn warning alarm doesn't go off; I don't want to lose any more of my hearing; I am already plenty enough deaf now as it is! LOL But for now, you wouldn't know we may get storms later as it is mostly clear out, and there is a stiff breeze blowing in from the south. Doesn't look at all threatening at all out there now!
Now, my sister, Ronee', will be wigging out later if we get storms (she just LOVES storms...NOT!!), but me, I will be calm and cool like a cucumber; I love severe storms; I always have. Besides, we really don't have to worry coz we have a basement AND a safe room built into our basement, so if any bad old tornado is going to visit here, we really don't have to worry a lot because we have somewhere to go and hide if the weather gets ugly out! Sure, it will be a little crowded with all us kids (and two scared parents, plus our grandparents) in the shelter, but hey...I'd much rather be safe than sorry! And besides, I don't want to get hit in the head with a tree; that might be a little painful...OW! LOL
But for now the weather is the last thing on my mind...right now I am thinking more about northern lights, Inuits, polar bears, and snow and cold because that is where I will be in a few weeks, in northernmost Alaska. That is going to be too cool; we are flying out to British Columbia, and then we are changing planes there and we will fly out to Anchorage, where we will then take a "puddle jumper" (a small plane) to Barrow. Then Sikik and her family will probably meet us at the airport! I am so happy I get to go to Alaska again; I LOVE Alaska, and I wouldn't mind living there! That'd be too cool...LITERALLY! LOL
We are off school for a week (Easter break), so I can do whatever I want (provided that the weather behaves itself, that is!), and I can visit my friends once the weather calms down. I also can go on my computer and go online prior to the bad weather, and I can get the latest forecasts from NOAA and the Weather Channel, so I am prepared when it comes to severe weather! I also have my trusty ol' weather radio with me (on alert standby, no less!), and I can pray to God to have Him protect our place from any tornadoes! I would love to go on a chase again; last year, I went on a weather chase, and we went to Texas and Oklahoma, and we saw some spectacular supercell thunderstorms; and I even saw a few tornadoes and some funnels. That was too cool, and I will never forget it as long as I shall live! I still want to be a meteorologist when I get older (that is, IF I GET to be older; that would be nice...*Sighhhh*), and I would love to work for a local tv station and do the weather.
Well, I know this isn't much, but we are going to eat and then hang out and see what the weather is going to do. I will write again when the wild weather goes through! Hopefully I will still have a place to live once the storms leave...Talk to you later!

Very nicely written sis. It is nice to read a story about a young person who knows what they want to be in life. That is so refreshing. We had a tornado touch down in Cudahy, a suburb of Milwaukee, only a few short blocks from Billy Mitchell International Airport. That would have been devastating if that tornado touched down there. May the Lord be with you always, and at your side constantly. GAD I hate the advent of Severe Weather Season--we sure had some woollies yesterday, didn't we? Thank God, they didn't go tornadic...it was a near thing, though.
