Dear Rebekkah Rachel~
You will never guess where I am in a million years. No, I am not at home, nor am I in California (though I wish I WERE!)..I am in the stupid hospital. I went in yesterday, and I have felt like heck! I suffered another flareup of my stupid JRA, and I am in so much pain now it isn't a BIT funny! I wouldn't wish this kind of pain on ANYONE! Plus I am extremely nauseated (I already threw up once this morning, when I first woke up; pasted the bed and my covers...ICK! I absolutely HATE to throw up!!...), and I just got a shot in the heinie; and I hope it takes effect soon! My hands, hips, back, feet, ankles, and fingers are giving me nothing but grief, and my chest hurts bad, too, which probably means the lining around my heart or lungs is inflamed. As a precaution, I am on oxygen. It's helping, but I am not really having any trouble with my breathing; it's just my chest is so darned sore! I am also feverish, and I just feel HORRID!
The doctors seem to think I will be here for about a week or so, just so they can give me powerful stuff for my achy-breaky joints, and more or less keep an eye on me. But that isn't all: my arthritis doctor, Dr. Hansen, is here, too; she is my roommate! Seems she had a flare too, so now we are BOTH in a pickle! She looks miserable too, and I am sure she feels just as bad as me. I feel so sorry for her! She is sleeping in bed, and I am lying here, trying to type this with my swollen, sore fingers on my laptop, and it's a huge pain in the REARRR!!
Maman and daddy (as well as Johnny, Barbara, and some of my other sibs) have been by to see me; and they have brought me cards, get-well balloons, and stuffed animals to try to cheer me up, but what I really want are some of my books from home. I am so darned bored it isn't funny! Being in the hospital BITES, as you very well know! I hate these stupid arthritis flares!! GRRR!!
Guess who also stopped by to see me: Dr. Wright! He was walking down the hall, on his crutches, and I saw him. I called out his name; and he was surprised to see me here. He looks great, and he was sorry to know that I was in for another flare. I told him I wish he could amputate my body and put a working one on me instead, so I didn't have to put up with this stupid JRA any longer, and he just clucked sympathetically, but I could tell by his sparkling eyes that he was laughing inside. He said he wasn't the surgeon, he was only the gas man, so he wasn't qualified to do body amputations on his patients. (A little hospital humor here...VERY little, sayeth Ronee'! :) )
How was your Easter? Mine was okay, but not great. But at least I made it to the Cantata, but I felt so lousy Sunday I didn't even sing in the Cantata like I was supposed to, and I couldn't get into the worship service; I just sat there like a bump on a log, feeling sorry for myself. I did sing Saturday night, and also on Good Friday, but I was starting to hurt then, but then the pain was manageable. But Sunday the pain was a nightmare, and I knew I was flaring big time; and I ended up being admitted to the hospital yesterday morning because I threw up all over, and I couldn't keep anything down, plus I was screaming out in pain. That's how bad I was hurting. It was really awful!
I am feeling a LITTLE better, but not much, and I think I am going to let you go now because the stuff the nurses gave me for my pain is now starting to make me loopy-headed, and so I must rest now. I will write later if I am feeling up to it. Thanks for your prayers and concern. They are very much appreciated!
Take care, Rebekkah, and God bless! Keep me in your prayers; arthritis flares are NOT fun AT all! GRRRR!
(((HUGS))) and love, your hurtin', hospitalized Tennessee friend, Ronee' Le-Anne ("my joints are killin' me!") Reaux. :(
As usual, a wonderful tale, very well told. I am sorry haven't commented lately, Karen...been VERY busy here...Easter, other things, but always enjoy your work.
