Louisiana Sandusky is saddened to hear of her Inuk friend's father's failing health, but at the same time, she is happy to hear from her at last. She is also excited because in a few hours, the family leaves for the airport to pick up their two newly adopted children from Sri Lanka.

Dear Sikik Grace~
I was so happy to have heard from you at last; I was wondering why you hadn't written. I am happy to hear that you are well, but I was disenheartened to learn of your father's failing health. I am so sorry; I will most certainly put him on our prayer list at church! How are you all doing in this time of crisis and uncertainty? I hope and pray that you all are holding out as best as you possibly can, and I pray that God gives you all the comfort and peace that passes all understanding during this difficult time in your lives...
I am doing much better; thank you for asking. Every day I feel more like myself, and every day means an easier time for me to get around. I still have to wear the back brace and use the cane until Dr. Stryker says otherwise, but I am feeling much better.
It is a joyous day of excitement and anticipation in the Sandusky abode: in just a few hours, we will leave for the airport to pick up our two newest adopted children, Arjun Ravi and Rani Kalpana, who are coming in from Sri Lanka. Their adoption has been approved, and now all we have to do is wait until they are in our arms. We are all excited beyond belief, and I know I will be crying buckets of tears when I first see them or hold them in my arms! It has been a few months of worry, strain, and wondering, and now that is all about to come to an end, and they will be our children...OUR children! Oh, God is wonderful; somehow, somewhere, some way, he keeps blessing us beyond our wildest dreams! I will tell you all about our two little Miracles in my next letter; stay tuned~
The storms have passed, and we made it through with only very minor damage (just some tree limbs and some loose shingles is all we sustained in the storms; the further east the storms went, the stronger they got, and the worse the damage); it is now bright, wall-to-wall sunshine, pristine blue skies, and delightfully low humidity (albeit a bit on the breezy side). It sounds like it is getting warmer there, I hope you don't have a repeat performance of the abnormally warm temps that you had last year! I remember your telling me last year that the highs were in the upper 70's to lower 80's up there, and how you were "burning up" from the "heat". Honey, you ain't seen heat until you come to the South in the summer: sometimes we get temps as high as over 100 degrees, and the humidity is so bad you start sweating not even five minutes after you step outside! Now THAT is HOT!! YOU try being in the middle of Southern Louisiana in the dead of August, in the middle of a heatwave: it is very uncomfortable, and you don't even want to MOVE, it is so darn hot! I've done it plenty of times, and it is something I DON'T recommend, especially for those people (like yourself) who aren't used to heat or hot weather!
I am happy to say that Ronee' did very well during her taping of "America's Most Talented Kids". She placed third out of seven acts, and it was a close competition all around for the top three finishers. Only a few hundredths of a point seperated the top three finishers (including Ronee'), and the kids apparently all did very well, according to Bill. I wasn't there because I was in Sri Lanka, but I was happy once I heard the news! Speaking of Ronee', she is in the hospital; she is due to get out tomorrow. She had a flare of her JRA, and she was quite sick; but she is now feeling much better, and today she even had her therapy. She also managed to eat a little without getting sick, according to her nurses. She is ready to come home! She went in the hospital on Monday, and she will have been in for almost a week. So tomorrow I will have to miss church because I will have to go to the hospital to bring Ronee' home. Ah, such as life when you are a mother....
That is nice of you to think of me like that. I shall enjoy the magazines, and I shall enjoy the music. This will prove to be interesting! I also loved the picture of the lights on your last letter; yes, the picture did come up, so you did all right on the directions I gave you in reference to loading up pictures on the computer. I think the pictures give the letters more oooomph and class; this is why I do it. It is confusing at first, but once you get used to it, it is as easy as pie!
Well, I will write to you before Johnny and Barbara leave next week, so expect a letter from me sometime next week! Until then, Sikik, take care, and if you need anything, just call me on my cell phone or email me; I'll get in touch with you as soon as possible! All I can say is this: Johnny and Barbara are getting more excited with each passing day, and they are really looking forward to seeing you up there in Alaska! God bless you always, and know you are all in my heart and prayers!
Love you and miss you!
~As always, your Tennessee friend, Louisiana Mayrah. :D
