Dear Rebekkah Rachel~
Hey! I am so happy to hear from you, and I am thrilled that you aren't mad at me. I just was wondering if you were because it was a while since I last heard from you, and I forgot about your dancing and stuff. I am sorry! But I AM glad that you are well!
I am feeling better; I got out of the hospital a week ago. I had another flare of my JRA, and I was really sick. I was in for five days, and I barely made it to the Cantata, I felt so bad. I was supposed to have sung in the Cantata but I was in so much pain, plus I know I was running a fever, and I just felt horrid; so I didn't sing on Easter Sunday. By Monday morning, after maman took me in to see Dr. Emmons, I was on my way to the hospital, where I was then admitted. But I felt so bad I just didn't care, and I didn't care whether I lived or died.
I missed seeing Rani and Arjun come, so I didn't get to meet them until after maman and company got home from the airport. They are okay, as far as brothers and sisters come, but I am not used to having a baby in the house, and whenever Arjun cries, he wakes me up because the nursery is just down the hall from my room, so I can hear him when he wakes up, and Rani is always hanging onto people, chattering away in Sri Lankan, and I can only pick out a few words in English. She already knows "mama", "papa", "Ronee'", "Johnny", "eat", "barrum" (her word for "bathroom"), "go-bed" (her word for "bedtime), and "up", as well as "down", and "yes" and "no". She also knows "doggie" and "kitty". But anything else, I don't know what in the heck she is saying, and it is very frustrating trying to communicate with her! But the funny thing about Rani is she looks like me when I was younger, and it is kinda' scary because it's like there's another ME! LOL But they are both very cute, especially Arjun. He is chubby, and he has the biggest black eyes that miss very little. As for Rani, she is thin and tiny, and she looks a lot like me in a way. She has big eyes like I do, and she has long, flowing, wavy hair like mine, and she even has the dimples in her cheeks like I do, and it is kinda' scary, if you think about it! LOL
Okay. I have but one question: WHY are Vince Gill and Amy Grant in Sonora? Are they doing a concert there, or is it something altogether different? I have met Vince Gill at Fan Fair several times, and he is one of the nicest people in country music. I have seen Amy Grant before, but I haven't met her. Is she nice? She seems to be! Let me know what is going on there in Sonora, I am all ears! I am glad you got to go and meet Vince Gill and Amy Grant; that is exciting! (I have met my favorite singer, too, on many occasions. I am a HUGE Loretta Lynn fanATIC, and she is probably THE nicest person in country music, in my opinion! Speaking of Loretta, I put a pic of her on this letter; enjoy! :) )
I hope the weather turns nice there. I know what mean about "Sunny" California (HA! What a laugher! LOL). When I was in Hollywood for my taping for "America's Most Talented Kids", it rained the entire time I was there, until we were at Disneyland, but it didn't clear up until we were ready to leave, and I was so mad! I also was going home the next day, so there went MY vacation down the tubes! ARRGGH!! I HATE rain; it makes my body hurt! If I could get rid of this arthritis pain, I'd be HAPPY! I wouldn't wish JRA on ANYONE!! Having JRA, especially the systemic kind (the kind I have, unfortunately) is the PITS!! And the flares...YIKES! Just imagine a bad case of the flu with joint or chest pains, and you will have some idea of exactly what a flare feels like. It is NOT fun AT all! I also get a rash on my cheeks, and my eyes bother me, too (I see double, or my vision blurs).
I haven't had any problems with my asthma acting up; it's been a while since I last had an asthma attack bad enough to warrent emergency medical attention; but I still wheeze. Oh, well, I guess that is normal for me. But my asthma IS getting better (thank GOD!), and I think I have it under control (plus I know well enough to stay away from peanuts or beestings or penicillin, the three things that seem to give me the most trouble)! I also take my inhalers and my pills, and I am cool with that. As long as my asthma is behaving itself, then I am on easy street! There's nothing worse than not being able to breathe; that is such a scary feeling! (But those darn flares do come close at times! GRR!)
The weather here is sunny and cool, with temps in the 60's. I will be going outside as soon as I am off the computer; I am going to see Nicole and spend the afternoon with her. I may go to the mall with Nicole and her mom, Michelle; but I won't know anything until I get to the Aldape's house. (Nicole lives just a few streets from me, so it's not far for me to walk there on my crutches, thank goodness! :) )
Today, Johnny and Barbara are going to Alaska. They will be leaving for the airport at two; their flight is at four, and I know I am going to miss them! They will be gone for a week, and they will be staying with maman's friend, Sikik Eegeesiak, who is Inuit. She lives waaaaaaay up north in Barrow, where it is cold a lot of the year; so Johnny and Barbara will have plenty of warm clothes, mittens, hats, scarves, and stuff to keep them warm in the cold Alaskan air. I wish I could sneak along; I'd LOVE to see the northern lights again (or see Sikik)! I tried to do just that last night (I packed a suitcase), but maman caught me, and she got mad at me. I was NOT amused! I got BUSTED! And now I have to stay home! I am soooo jealous of Barbara and Johnny!!
Yeah, I heard that Louisa Mason is sick. It sounds serious. I hope and pray she will be okay! That muscular dystrophy business is nothing to mess with; I know whenever Johnny has a problem, I get scared! I hate his having muscular dystrophy!! I don't hate him, just his dumb disease! But so far Johnny has been doing better; so I am glad for that, but you never know when a problem might creep up and he ends up in the hospital...I will pray for Louisa tonight when I go to bed, and again tomorrow, when we go to church.
Well, Rebekkah, I thank you for writing. It is always good hearing from you! Tell your mom and dad hi from me, and God bless all of you mightily! Take care, and just be careful, so you don't end up in the hospital again! I worry when you get sick or hurt!

Amy and vince are wonderful as is Loretta, and the weather in Californis is still better than most places;-) Even though we've had more rain than usual. The reason everyone takes notice, is that we aren't used to it here. I think the weather is changing on the whole planet! Great write Karen!
