Dear Eddie~
Hi! Thanks so much for writing; it is good to hear from you again. I am sitting here in my office, waiting for two o'clock, so I can clock out. I got done early, but I am doing some last minute things before I clock out from work for the day. It was a rough one today, and I am feeling it in my back. My back doesn't hurt so much (nothing like it was prior to having my surgery), but it is stiff; guess I have to take a bath before the kiddoes come home from school so I can sit in there and SOAK! LOL
We have a woman in our hospital who has been in a coma, and she is one of the patients I have been assigned to take care of. She still isn't doing well; she hasn't really responded since she came to our hospital, in full cardiac arrest, after suffering an overwhelming anaphylactic shock reaction. She is in her sixties, and her name, as I learned from her husband Joe, is Pearl J. Holbrook, and she is sixty-four years old. They have been married for nearly forty years, and her husband is understandably very distraught. The woman reportedly went to drink some cider vinegar, and in a matter of moments, she went into anaphylactic shock, and by the time her husband reached her side after hearing her fall and hit the floor, the woman was unconscious and wasn't breathing. It all happened so fast, and she is still not doing well. She is in a deep coma, and there is the possibility of brain damage because she was without oxygen for so long (over a half hour). It was one of those weird, unusual circumstances that you hear about every so often, and I just feel so bad for Joe. We also have another woman, Wynter DeShon Lewis, who got bitten by a brown recluse spider (at least that is what we SUSPECT), and she isn't doing very well either. She isn't in a coma, but she is still very sick, and she may end up losing her leg. Her leg is turning gangrenous, and it looks really ghastly, to say the very least; and she is delirious with fever and shock. So surgery may be the only option for her, and she will then have to live out the rest of her days as an amputee, and that will be a very big adjustment on her part. So I am taking care of two desperately sick women, and it has just been a hard day emotionally as well as physically for me.
But onto more brighter, happier news: Johnny and Barbara are now in Alaska, and they should be calling me sometime today, to let me know that they got to Barrow safely. They left Saturday, and I am sure that they are having a great time with Sikik Eegeesiak. (I STILL have problems trying to spell her name! LOL) Also, Ronee' is all over her flare, and she is back at school, where she is with her friends. She just loves school, and she does so very well in all her classes. She is in the Gifted/Talented program at her school, and she is every teacher's dream! LOL We knew she was gifted when she was small: she had all the signs, and she was picking up things like a little sponge; and she STILL does! LOL
Also, I have since found out that another one of my articles has been picked up by another magazine, this time "Adoptive Families", so I shall be looking for THAT when I get a future issue! I am still waiting word about several more of my articles that I have submitted, including a story I submitted to Chicken Soup for the Soul, for a future edition of the book. They are supposedly supposed to have a book in the series about raising children with special needs or physical disabilities, so this was why I sent the story. I think that it would be neat to see my name in Chicken Soup for the Soul, let alone, my STORY; if it IS picked up, I will get $300 in cash for it! :) So things are starting to happen with my writing! :) I have had articles published in Exceptional Child Magazine, Parenting Magazine, and Adopted Child Magazine. And now I will have my third book published, and I am just hummin' along as an author! :)
I am glad the weather is clearing up for you there. It is pretty rainy here, but it should be out in a day or two, and it should clear up by the weekend. It's been rainy the past few days, but it's been nice trying to catch up on my letters (I'll NEVER catch up!! LOL) and trying to keep the kids from killing one another! LOL
