Dear Louie~
I am sorry for not writing sooner, but I have been in the hospital undergoing my cancer treatment, and I have been feeling horrid at best. I have my good days where I feel somewhat okay, but on others, I feel like I just want to lie back and die. I am tired of being tired, and I am sick of being sick! I have lost all my beautiful hair--I am now balder than a bald eagle!--, and I have a pale face with purple circles around my eyes, and I am getting skinny; I resemble a human skeleton! I have gotten over the worst of the nausea (I have medicine to take to curb it), but I still have the darn mouth sores, and it is just too hard for me to eat, so I now have a central line in my chest, and I eat that way. But I am determined to beat this evil thing called brain cancer, and I guess it's because of my husband and my kids; they have been such dears throughout this whole ordeal!
I am happy to know that you are recovering from your back surgery. It sounds like you are really hummin' along in your recovery. Sure wish I was! My husband and kids are all well, and I am getting ready to get Rosie out of school; seems that there have been some reports of abuse between the instructors and the kids, and I am sorry, but I don't want to subject Rosie to that kind of environment. She is so helpless now as it is--she can't defend herself--, and I don't want to endanger her already fragile life! So it looks like she will be home sometime by next week at the latest; we have been getting her room ready for her homecoming, and we will have a nurse come and help her when I am in treatment or in the hospital, or my hubby will be there with her. I also had to take Chico to the Emergency Room last week: he shoved a pecan up his nose, and he got a horrible nosebleed and he couldn't breathe, so I had no choice. It was scary!! But he is now fine; I have to keep reminding him NOT to put things up his nose that shouldn't go there in the first place! He is such a silly! LOL
I was happy to learn of your kids coming from Sri Lanka! Are they there yet? How are they doing, and are they healthy, or are they kids with special needs? You will have to tell me about your two new "additions" the next time you write! That is so exciting; I can feel the joy exuding from your letter!
I was glad to hear that you escaped the bad weather. We can get some nasty storms here, but not nearly as bad as in other parts of Texas. Seems that Amarillo on east gets the worst of the bad weather, as does Houston and that area. But just in case it DOES "tornado here", we do have a storm cellar, and that way, if it "goes green", we can hide and pray until the storms pass! I don't know how they do it without storm shelters or SOME place to go when it storms; I'd go NUTS!! LOL
How was your Easter? How was the Cantata? I hope it went well; you seemed to be excited and looking forward to it! You will have to let me know how your Easter went. Ours was okay, but I was sick that day, so I didn't even go to church. I just stayed in bed and felt sorry for myself. Besides, I was still in the hospital, so it was hard for me to go to church. They did have a special "Easter Service" at the hospital, but I just stayed in my room and puked my brains out! LOL Hope your Easter was a lot better than mine was; my Easter was full of rotten eggs! LOL
Well, I have to have my hubby hook me up; seems it is "dinner" time for me. UCH. I would much rather eat REAL food than medicine or liquid food, but at least I can eat now without puking! So I will go for now. I will write more later when I am feeling up to it, like I was today. Sorry for the long dry spell, but I was in the hospital, and I just didn't feel like writing! Take care, and thanks for the prayers; seems like they are helping! You are a true friend!
(((HUGS))) With much love, your (sick) Texas friend, Diane in Del Rio. :)

This is amazing, Karen. Texas Tornado is a very apt description of your prolific writing. I agree with Jerry, you have enough material to put it all together as a novel of letters.
