Dear Journal~
I am usually at school, waiting to be loaded onto the bus by now; but I am at home instead. I am not sick; but I AM out of school. Have been since yesterday morning. When we got to school yesterday, it was all dark, and we weren't there even a HALF HOUR before Principal Fairchild said school was cancelled because of an electical problem that killed the power. So I am home today too because they still haven't gotten all the bugs worked out of the school, and Eastview Elementary is still without power. We MAY get to go back to school tomorrow or Monday, depending on whether they can fix the problem or not.
I had therapy this morning, but what made it nice today was after I got back home, I got to go back to bed (YAYYY!). I slept in; I didn't get back up until 10 this morning! It felt great to sleep in for ONCE! LOL I had my furry buddy, "Cajun", lying next to me, and she kept me nice and toasty warm! :)
Well, there's a new Pope. His name is Ratzinger (I can't recall his first name; guess I am getting old! LOL), and he is the first German pope in a very long time--and the third non-Italian pope for the Catholic church. But he will be known as "Benedictus XVI". He isn't a young guy; he is something like 78 years old, and he was the late Pope John Paul II's "right-hand" man, and he is very strict on the Catholic faith; he doesn't believe in things like abortion, "same-sex marriages", or letting women become priests. (Kinda' of like how I think; I DON'T agree with the woman thing--I think they should be ALLOWED to become priests or ministers if that is what they want to do in life!--, but as for abortion or "same-sex marriages, no way, Jose'! That's stupid!!) I heard about the new pope on the news, and he isn't a bad looking man, if you ask me! LOL
I have been doing well since getting over my last flare; but Dr. Hansen says I may need surgery on my hips or my hands sometime later this year. GREAT. Just what I did NOT want to hear! MORE time in bed if they operate on my hips, and then HOW am I gonna' take care of myself if they operate on my hands? I will be a good for NOTHING, and I HATE having people helping me all the time! That is going to drive me BATS!! But my hips and hands ARE getting bad, so I am afraid I have no choice in the matter. BOOO, HISSSS! (Hissing like "Cajun" here, folks...LOL)
Maman has a new book out; it's a sequel to her first book, "A Family Made out of Miracles and Rainbows: The Sandusky Family Story, A True Story of Love and International Adoption". This one is called "The Miracles Continue: The Sandusky Family Story, A Sequel". She just found out about it being published, and she's been walking on air ever since! LOL It will be out within the year, and the same company who published her first book will be doing the publishing of her new book. I am so happy for her!
I am getting over being jealous of Johnny and Barbara's going to Alaska and not taking me (*SNIFF*). They had a good time, but Johnny wasn't happy with eating the walrus or seal meat (ICK!). He said there was really nothing to do in Barrow, but he DID enjoy meeting Sikik's family. And he DID see the Northern Lights, so that is good! :) He also got me a new Northern Lights/Alaska sweat-shirt, so I wasn't TOO mad at him! LOL
Next month, I am going to Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; I am scheduled to sing at the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, and I am looking forward to it. I always have "un bon tomps rouler" there, and I am also going to be singing at the Grand Ole Opry, where I get to share the stage with Cajun king, Jimmy C. Newman. He is a nice guy, and I always enjoy his music!
