Dear Jenna Fiona~
(Almost put Jenna Aurora; seems I write to another Jenna, this one living in Alaska, and whenever I put down your first name, I think of her! So I have to be careful! Sorry about that...LOL)
ANYWAY, back to what I was talking about yesterday in my letter to you...I will give you the names and addresses of several adoption agencies that we have dealt with in obtaining several of our kids, agencies that specialize in placing children with special needs or older children. They will be on a seperate piece of paper, along with this letter. I sincerely hope that you do adopt a child with special needs: it would open your eyes and your mind about the disabled, and you will soon find out that those children who DO have disabilities are a lot like your kids, they just happen to have specific health problems or were injured through NO fault of their own and, as a result, became disabled. But they are loving, giving children, and they need every chance in the world to succeed in life!
This is why Bill and myself, although WE both face disabilities, took on kids who have no chance of a future or family; we wanted to let them know in our own special way that WE care, and we were WILLING to take them in and love them as our very own (in which we HAVE). I guess it is our mission in life, to bring hope to the hopeless, and to show the world that there are children in great need of adoption and we aren't afraid to take on a challenge.
If you have any questions pertaining to adoption, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us, either by snail or email addy, or by phone. We will be sending you our addy on the same piece of paper with the adoption agencies and the addresses of; and we would be more than happy to help you with any concerns or questions you may have. We have been on the road where you are at now; but we have found out that the more we got into adoption, the easier it has seemed to become; and now it is "old hat" for us. Of course, we have FINALLY reached our limit (fifty-two children is nothing to sneeze at, and it DOES get hairy a lot of the time!), but we can't imagine our family without any of the children we have now, and they have blessed us a thousand fold, in ways we never thought were possible! Now we are helping other families with this process, and we are enjoying ourselves emmensely.
Please feel free to join our adoption community. We are a caring, close knit bunch, and we can help you through the process; and we can be there for you whenever you may need it. I will give you the addys and phone numbers of several of the members, and they can tell you what I am telling you now. We have something in common--the love of children--, and we can be your biggest supporters and allies if you give us that chance.
We can also help you with questions or concerns about disability issues, and hopefully that can change your mind or outlook on the disabled. I know you can't help what happened to your mother's cousin, or how your daddy feels; but you don't have to think like that, and you can teach them what it means to accept people of ALL kinds, and you can help open a door for them as well, not just yourself.
Well, Jenna, I will let you go for now. I have to get ready to go to lunch and then go back to work in an hour. I will write you again soon; take care, and am looking forward to hearing from you soon. God bless, and have a good day!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your Tennessee friend, Louisiana Sandusky. :)
An excellent write, but Jenna should not adopt a disabled child just to learn about disability issues. She should adopt because she loves the child just as he or she is, and only after extensive research and training to deal with medical issues. Don't you think?
Still, a compassionate write from a caring mother--well done!
A page-turning novel about a relationship between best friends that is interrupted because of betrayal , deceit, sexual promiscuity and pregnancy happens!
