Dear Sari and Nikolas~
Hai! Or as they say in Greece, Yasou! How are you guys doing? Are you enjoying your new place? I am happy to know that you got to Athens safely, I know it must have been a long, tiring flight for the both of you! I am happy to know that you are excited about your upcoming wedding; well, we are excited at the thought of coming to Greece next week and seeing y'all! We leave for Greece on Wednesday, and we will be there until the following Tuesday, exactly one week (not long enough, I know!), and we are already partially packed! LOL
The kids are upset that they aren't going, but they understand that it is a very long journey, and they understand that their parents were invited, NOT them. But at the same time, they are happy for us that we get to get away from them for a week, and I know that they will be entrusted under the good and capable hands of their older brothers and sisters (as well as their grandparents). I am, however, rather worried about Arjun and Rani: they have never been apart from us since their arrival to our family from Sri Lanka, and I wonder how they will take our leaving; I know there is bound to be tears and lots of crying (on all our parts! LOL)! The kids all say hello to you all, and they wanted to let me tell you guys that they love and miss you both like crazy!
I am in the middle of helping other families with information about adopting kids with special needs, and right now I am writing to a woman in Kentucky who is interested in adoption, but she has some issues that she must get ironed out first. I won't go into details, but the woman already has three children of her own, and she wants to add to her family. We both have exchanged emails several times already, and I am sure that I will hear from her sometime today or tomorrow. And Sunday is Mother's Day, so I know I am going to get spoiled by my kids and my husband (I LOVE that!); they won't let me lift a finger, and they are going to take care of me and take me out to eat at the Golden Corral. I know I will enjoy that! :) They also might take me to a movie after church and lunch; who knows what else they have planned?
Sari, you are NOT crippled, and I personally don't like that word. It is such a cold, insulting, ugly, unfeeling word, and you are anything BUT. You are a capable young lady who just happens to have some new health problems that you aren't used to yet, but if you let others help you or change your attitude, you will find out that you can do very many things still, and you can have a very happy, rewarding life! I understand the fears and uncertainties you are facing; I have been there, several times, and it is nothing new. I know it is hard living with a physical disability or pain when you were always so active, but you don't have to let your pain or disability rule you. Just try to do what you can, and try to see the positives. You can still walk, and you can still see MOST of the time; and most of the time, your illness really doesn't get into the way. Sure, you are going to have bad days--we ALL have them!--, but more often than not, you are going to have many more good days, more than bad, and you have a sweet man who loves you very much and is willing to help you in any way he can. I will also try to help you, and I know that there are places there where you can go for help or support. Just look around and see what you find; you will find that you aren't alone!
I love the picture of the Athens landscape with the Acropolis (or is it the Parthenon??) and the moon shining down; I am really looking forward to our trip to Greece, and as I said earlier, we can't WAIT to see you guys! Thank you again for inviting us to come to your wedding, I know we are going to have a wonderful time!
Sari, Sari, Sari...you worry way too much! You are not going to mess up during your wedding, and if you do, it's no big deal! I messed up during MY wedding vows: I got the giggles, and I couldn't stop laughing, no matter how hard I tried! I'd look at Bill, and my heart would melt; and I would start giggling! At least I didn't do anything dramatic, like drop (or lose) the ring, faint, throw up, or fall down! That would have been MORTIFYING! Just don't worry your pretty head so! You will do fine, and so will Nikky! And we will be there to support you!
Well, dear hearts, I am going to go now; I have to get back to work (break is about over), and work until two; I will write to you guys again before we leave for Greece next week. Please find enclosed, the flight details about our flight to Greece, and a new picture of our family! Enjoy! God bless you both always, and take care! See you next week!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your (slightly excited) friend in America, Louisiana Sandusky. :D
