Thank you for your invaluable letter of last week; it was good to hear from you again! Thank you for sending me the names and addys of the adoption agencies, and thank you for including your phone number; now I can call you if I have any questions. I guess I am scared to adopt a kid with disabilities because I don't know what to expect, but how am I going to learn if I don't persue it? You seem to have done alright with your brood; and now you are helping others. You are an angel, and I wish you nothing but success in your life! God has been awfully good to you and your Miracle Family, and if you can do it, then by God, so can I!
I already have my own three (Travis, Loretta, and Reba), what's one more?? I am sure that I can give a child in need of a home or family my own love and undivided attention; why would I care if they are disabled or not? Just because my daddy is a bitter man and just because my mother is embarrassed about her cousin doesn't mean that I have to be like that too; I can show them that I can love a person who is disabled, and I can teach them the meaning of tolerance! I know it wasn't my mother's cousin's fault that she was born disabled; but I still have to change my attitude and go on. Sure, it may take a while before I AM comfortable around people who are disabled, but I am willing to change and try to accept them as I would accept a person who ISN'T disabled in any way!
I loved the pictures of your kids that you enclosed in your letter; that picture of Jodie laughing is so precious, and I love the picture of Johnny and Ronee' hugging each other! I also loved the picture of "the whole gang", but I bet that was a challenge! LOL Wow, what a HUGE family you have; yours is the biggest family I have ever seen! MY! But which one IS you?? Are you the woman beside the elderly man on the crutches? If so, you are very pretty! And is the man on the crutches--the very tall one--your husband? He is very cute! :)
I will have to send you a picture of myself and my kids one of these days, as soon as I have some made. I would like for you to see who you are writing to, you know! LOL But in the meantime, I will have to search for one taken when I was in high school; I look about the same, but I AM bigger around the middle, and my hair has gotten more greyer now, and it is now shorter in length.
How is the weather there? Here it is beautiful, just perfect "horse-racing weather". Speaking of horse-racing, today is THE day we horse fans have looked forward to all year; today is the Kentucky Derby, and yes, we are going there in about an hour. We are excited; I know we will have a ball! We go to the Derby every year, and we go to the "Thunder Over Louisville", which is one of the largest fireworks displays in the country, and the fireworks is always a very huge draw; thousands upon thousands of people come, and we always thrill to the sounds and pageantry of the fireworks displays! I will let you know who won the Derby in my next letter and tell you how the Derby went. Stay tuned~
Are you doing anything special this summer? If so, do you have any big trips planned, or are you just going to stay close to home? I bet it is hard traveling with all those children; that must be one major undertaking! LOL I guess you can say that you give the term "Mother" a whole new meaning; because you ARE a true MOM! LOL Speaking of such, let me be among the first to wish you and yours a happy Mother's Day tomorrow, and hope your kids (and hubby) spoil you ROTTEN! Do you have anything planned for tomorrow? I don't know what the kids have planned for me, but I DO know we are going out to eat (probably to Luby's or Golden Corral--that is, if we can get CLOSE to that place; hear it's going to be crowded big time!) after we get back from church.
